Early Filter change in new Engine

I'm a fan of early changes because you can only do it once, right? Can't go back in time and similarly, can't go back in wear.

On my 2022 GMC Canyon I changed the oil and filter at 1000 miles. No surprises, debris or anything in the oil or filter. However I found out how ridiculous the filter housing placement was and how it naturally trapped dirty oil. :(
Very well said.

Do it if helps you sleep at night.

I’m the voice of descent here. Sure, it will reduce wear. Sure, it’s cheap insurance. Sure, it’s also measurable. But simply because something is reduced, cheap, and measurable doesn’t mean that it actually matters (ie, has any meaningful effect that will change an outcome.) Once again, do it if it helps you sleep at night. Your money, engine, and life.
