What are you eating right now?

Your egg pics make me HUNGERY!! I'm fasting here man. It's a fad, but I'm fasting everyday for years now. HUNGERY!!

Seriously I do agree with you on resistance/weight/low aerobic for better blood sugar control, and hard aerobic for heart and circ health. My pump class is deadly harsh. Yoga lady shows me which muscles I need to loosen to get more pretzelike and senior aging instructor - she is a master of knowing and getting to every muscle in the human body - and she is pushing 80+ (that class is not as easy as you youngsters might think!!)

Pickleball people never guess my age, and I need to be careful sometimes. People starting to notice I like to play with certain ladies. 3 times a week 6:30AM-8:30AM, started yesterday for the indoor winter 2025 - REALLY helps with fast twitch, agility and controlled power. One game, Fiona and I (she's GOOD) were down 3-10. We stepped back, took a breath and set a little strategy. We rallied all the way back to win 12-10.

Speaking of brain health, and sexy women, wife and I play Scattergories, Scrabble, etc every night starting around Christmas. Just this little time has sped my mind up on NOUNS. These are the first to go, you geezers. Use games, reading, dealing with others to clear the mind and be quicker.

I'm just saying this once, 2025 to get it off my chest.
At super time around dark, the wife and I will do all of the daily news paper crossword puzzles and even started into those Sudoku number ones. We also make ourselves watch the "Wheel of Fortune" game show & Jeopardy to kind of stay sharp. Does it work...? I am sure debatable :) to some.

Plus a large bowl of homekraut

Voluntary. I want to try 12-16 hour fasting every day for a little while and see what happens

If I were you'd I'd start with 8-10 hours fasting overnight and work my way slowly up as needed. Going from not fasting to 12-16 hours can be rough, although it depends on the individual.

Presuming you remain in at least somewhat of a caloric deficit in addition to intermittent fasting, the weight loss you experience for the first week and maybe a little longer is mostly due to water loss. Especially if you go a on a low-carb diet this by itself will reduce the amount of water your tissues hold. What I am saying is, should you stop what you re doing as soon as you notice a few pounds having come off, these few pounds can come back faster than you think. Give yourself at least a month and once you have lost the unwanted weight you can switch to weight maintenance, which is best accomplished through caloric and nutritional adjustment, exercise regimen, possibly supplemented by a milder form of intermittent fasting. With a properly functioning metabolism. not eating from evening till the next morning (at least 8 hours) should be sufficient to maintain a balanced metabolic state.

Hope you get back in your feet and on your tucker soon.
Thanks.

Probably about like my nursing home food. Most was not good, but once in a while they hit a home run.
Every one got the same food for lunch and dinner.
I don’t mind most of the meals I’ve had in hospital, but I grew up eating pretty simple “meat and 3 veg” kind of meals.

Breakfast this morning was porridge, yoghurt, banana, orange juice and milk.

Thanks.

My worst meals were after getting home. "Meals on Wheels"
Essentially a heated up TV dinner. (my area anyway)

Would rather eat lunch meat sandwiches every day!:poop:

My best friend is coming for a visit tomorrow. We plan on going to the local Mexican joint for lunch.

I am not trying to be smart. yes, coming from me I am sure you have your doubts.

However wouldn't skipping breakfast be pretty much there. Or does a 16 hour fast require waking hours?
You're correct, the easiest part of fasting is sleeping through most of it. It usually takes me 3 days to get my stomach used to not eating after 7PM. Most days I go from 7PM-11AM sometimes longer. Further, sometimes I also incorporate only OMAD.

I just got discharged from the hospital so my lunch will be a sandwich with low fat luncheon meat!

I hope you enjoy the Mexican.

She will thaw them out, and then put in the oven for 15 minutes. These steaks are thick and currently cooked rare) medium rare.

Sous Vide Machine would work well also, with no chance of over cooking.
I sure enjoyed mine until the Daughter snatched it! :D
You made me want steak, so I got a ribeye out of the freezer. I still have an oven with a broiler!

I don’t have a problem doing a 16 hour fast while still eating breakfast because I’m the type who often eats dinner pretty early, sometimes around 4:00. So in those cases I have breakfast at 8am. I probably won’t be doing 16 hour fasts every day but I should have no trouble with 13-14 hour fasts.

And I don’t think it’s a problem if a lot of the fasting time is during sleep time. But I do believe that it helps if the last few hours of the fast are awake hours where I am a bit active (or at least not lying in bed or watching TV)

I'm sure we will. Her company alone will make it worthwhile.
We worked together 10 years and became close friends. I taught her my job before retiring.
29 years age difference, so she is kind of like a second Daughter. Even my real Daughter likes her.

I try to never eat anything after 8:00PM, and skip breakfast more often than not - black coffee excepted. Is this a benefit to me maybe?

I happened into some research that seems to indicate breakfast is less important than they thought - so I have often been skipping breakfast. I seem to feel better? Maybe placebo affect.
