Kale and Swiss chard: which do you eat?

My dad always grew Swiss Chard but I was too young to appreciate it. Of the two I more often get served kale but I like Swiss chard better. Even better than Swiss chard, though to me, are beets. Love beets! If I'm not mistaken, I think Swiss chard is a type of beet that is just the leaves and not the root?

Swiss Chard is pretty good. Kale can be fed to the cattle, not a fan. I have tried to like it, but it just has a flavor I just cannot appreciate.

Local farm here sells “hot beets” with hard boiled eggs in the jar. To die for I say 😍😍

I eat both. With kale it's important to break it up to make it less though. Improperly prepared, kale is tough and can turn a person off for life. I like crushing the leaves with a heavy rolling pin. Creamed kale is excellent with meat dishes. Kale is also good with some vinegar. As mentioned, like most dark leafy greens, kale and chard are high in vitamin K which will require titrating your blood thinner meds if you change your regular intake habits of dark leafy greens.

I’m dumb here: what does to tearing your blood thinner?

Thank You vavavroom

Can’t believe a country bumpkin like you never ate either. Have you ever had even okra or spinach?
I have eaten those. Like spinach and can tolerate okra, if cooked properly and not slimy.

You ever castrate hogs or beef, then have a nut fry? How about snapping turtles, squirrel or beaver?
Fresh morel mushrooms that you just picked? We all grow up in different areas and make do with what is available.

Heck, one year as a kid my Brother and I fried up sparrow and their eggs. just to taste them. Pretty small drumsticks. :ROFLMAO:

Both are natural health supporting foods. High in fiber, calcium and other nutrients. Eat whichever one you like.
However, people who are sensitive to oxylate should avoid Swiss Chard and eat Kale instead.

You're totally my hero.
Once I spied a rabbit sitting under a bush for shade.
I had time to get the .22 and shoot the little 6ucker. I tore its guts out and boiled it into contracted shoe leather.
We ate it all...so back off.

Summer Rabbit Boil......Outdoor Life rejected the recipe.

However, doesn't kale provide antioxidants too? (whatever that means) I like both a lot.

Mountain boy? I was mostly an urban savage but spent much time at a ranch.
