What are you doing right now?

H.C That is GREAT.

I will admit, sometimes I was the same way. Too timid! I didn't even know I was doing good on something until I got a higher level reward. Contrary to common belief it's actually the rare boss who tells employees they are doing a good job.
Yes I thought I was going to get in there and flub up because I always get so nervous. But once I was in there I basically thought to myself well what do I have to lose they can’t afford to fire me or have me quit lol. And I guess I was right.

Eating lunch. Going to O’Reilly Auto Parts later to get more bar hand soap for our downstairs sink. We use lots of the liquid hand cleaner for mechanics hands but the Fast Orange bar soap works excellent too for just regular washing so we buy that and O’Reilly is the only place that sells it. Otherwise O’Reilly Auto Parts is my least favorite parts store because they are always so arrogant and rude.

Nice. I've never worked up the nerve to ask, although most of my career I didn't think too much about pay (I showed up and did my thing, and went home).

Contemplating a change in my life. Working with a friend of mine at the car lot has started to leave a bad taste in my mouth. He’s become a profit over ethics person.
Ultimately, he owns the place, but I won’t ignore things that need to be repaired on vehicles before they’re to be put out for sale, especially if it’s what I consider a safety issue.
Greed can make people ugly.
Oh well, onward and upward.

I’m chilling on my lunch break listening to some music. I have my headphones up a decent amount and I can hear all the salesman in the break room yelling at the tv for the NASCAR race. Our dispatcher and 3 techs are out today because they called out since the NASCAR race got rained out and moved to today. Must be nice to use up all your PTO for stupid stuff. I will definitely keep that in mind when the World Series is on. Luckily we are really slow today so them not being here doesn’t really make a difference. We have had 12 cars today as a shop 9 of which were oil changes and state inspections. Only 12 more scheduled. I guess everyone starting back to school and work from the summer time. Also just got word that a lube tech is having a car towed back off interstate 77 in Bland County Virginia with no oil in it and making a horrible noise so guess I’m the man for that once it gets here. This stuff is getting old I hope they let him go today his last day is Friday so I don’t think he cares anymore.

Lube Tech blew-up another car?

Just made an appointment to have my local indy BMW shop do front brakes on my 535d. As stated in multiple forums, I have an irrational hatred for brake work of any kind and I happily pay the shop to do that work. This also serves as a trial run of the indy BMW shop that has been recommended by many to me. I'm hoping to build a long term good relationship with them.

That’s what it appears just got it back about 20 minutes ago. Needless to say it won’t start to drive in the shop so yeah lol. Drain plug is MIA too.

Think the dealership should make his last day today, and dock his pay to cover damages done.

Yeah I agree. They got a huge fee a few weeks ago for the car he blew up that made it to Washington DC and DC doesn’t mess around when there is oil on their road. They also had to pay the state of Tennessee and the town of Dandridge Tennessee for the one he had the drain plug come out of there for clean up and environmental. He had to pay for one of them I can’t remember which one it was I think it was Tennessee. This is also about the 7th one he has blown up on this interstate from today too and had a couple that made it to West Virginia and North Carolina. Bottom line is he should have been fired months ago. Multiple people have tried working with him and training him to no avail. The vehicle in question today is a very expensive 2024 Toyota Tundra so it’s toast.

That's some crazy stuff going on. Is this guy related to the dealership owner or something? If I was his boss, he would have been gone the first time he caused an engine to blow-up.

Not that I know of. Thank god his last day is Friday. He is going to work for the local county doing manual labor. I’ve made my mistakes and I’ve even left a drain plug loose before but it’s something you do it one time and then you never let it happen again. But I’ve never seen anyone like this before. His partner got fired then hired back a few years ago. They fired him after 10 blow ups. This has got to be at least 18 for this guy.

What a tool, good riddance.

The Toyota dealership that serviced my mom's car since it was brand new stripped out the oil pan drain plug. It was leaking oil all over the driveway. They said she would have to pay to have a new oil pan installed. I called the dealership and talked to the service manager and said NO she will not be paying for it ... the dealership WILL be paying for it. The "tech" caused the problem, not my mom. They put a new oil pan on and didn't charge my mom. I was not letting them get away with non-sense like that. I told them if the drain plug would have come out, it could worse case cause the engine to seize up and cause her to lose control and get in a deadly car wreck. Dealerships need to ensure even the guys who do simple stuff like oil and filter changes know what they are doing, or get fired instantly over incompetence.
