Vehicles they no longer make that I miss (and would possibly buy) if still made

Toyota MR2/MR2 Supercharged/MR2 Turbo
Toyota Celica All-Trac
Toyota Previa All-Trac/Supercharged
Mitsubishis Lancer Evolution
Pontiac Firebird TransAm
Mazda RX-7
Honda CRX Si
Ford Mustang GT-350

A fair number of vehicles mentioned really weren't all that good back then, would they measure up today to our memories?

The older we get, the better they were. 😉

You are correct. The modern vehicles are safer, faster, more comfortable and more fun than those of the past. But I'd still like to have a '69 Cuda Hemi please, even though a modern Hellcat is a a much better car.

Chevy Astro. If the Joplin tornado had not ate it, I would still be driving it. Many last 500K miles with proper care.

When I was a young teen in the 60s, there was this guy across the street that had a 1963 Impala (white over champagne) with Astro five spoke wheels. It had a big block, but I forget the size. It was so clean and cool looking and it became burned in my memory ever since. ☮️

The original champagne color was much more elegant. These wheels don’t quite cut it, but you get the idea.View attachment 169076
'63 and '69 are my favourite years of full-size Chevy.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the El Camino. I've heard people mention that one multiple times in the past.
I owned one in the day. I'd be interested in a new El Camino. But I'd want a true car/truck ... not these Santa Cruz/Maverick crossovers. I'm talking about a Chevy Malibu with a bed.

Also, would be incredibly interested in a new Subaru Brat if it were reintroduced in a similar configuration as the original.

67 Camaro. I had 3 on and off between 1978 and 84.
Up until a few years ago I used to have actual dreams that I still had one parked outside in the garage. I would open the drivers door, step over the aluminium scuff plate with “designed by pininfarina” embossed in it, would into the black vinyl seat, crank it over and listen to the sound of those burbling cherry bombs while looking out over that tall dash, through the letterbox windscreen at the two sets of chrome fins on either side of the SS hood.
Waking up sucked.

Pontiac G8 GXP
Chevy SS

Same car essentially, but reasons for either model. Really, the last of the naturally aspirated, large V8 powered, manual trans muscle sedans, and because of the platform they were actually quite agile. More of a katana compared to the Hellcat bludgeons…
My Caprice is closer to the SS. It has all the updates the SS got over the G8. I'm glad I found mine unmolested by police service.

Quick list.
  1. Dodge Journey, just because of the sheer utility. I love the storage cubbies and ability to transform it from a hauler to a 7-seater in seconds. Plus, it's the best-riding car I've had since my Cadillac Brougham. Say what you want, but my parents have had almost trouble-free service out of a '13 and '17, both since new, and both with the 4-cylinder. I have the Pentastar in my '14 with 146K miles. I bet one with a Hurricane 4 would be a lot of fun.
  2. 1988-98 Chevy/GMC C/K/Sierra. I'd love to see one with the aluminum 4.3, straight duals, and a five- or six-speed stick. It'd be a hoot!
