Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner??

Agreed. since pea is proven to work and there’s seemingly no indication that both formulas can’t be used at the same time, I will likely continue to use either both in conjunction, or perhaps alternate dosing.

Stopped at my local AutoZone and they had six bottles of Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner on the shelf along with some Maxlife stuff. Not wanting to seem greedy  , I bought five bottles (and moved the sixth to the front edge of the shelf). I'll add a bottle to our daughter's CR-V when I change the oil over to Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-20.

My fuel low popped up on the display as I was heading to the Shell station after buying these. FYI, the price for premium hasn't changed in two weeks, $3.65/gal, and it's a very busy station.

Looks like the red bottle (MaxLife HighMileage FSC) is now on Amazon: https://a.co/d/07CscfpA

Usually I can find a "date first available" in the item details, but obviously it's not there. Given that there's no reviews and CamelCamelCamel hadn't tracked the ASIN before, I'd bet this is the first AMZN availability.
We just added it last week. We wanted to make sure it got on retail shelves first before adding online.

Yep. Yesterday. Bought 5, used 1. Our local kids have four cars total. so may give them some to dump in their tanks... or not. I have two bottles of Redline SL-1, so probably will give those two away and hoard the remaining two bottles of Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner as seen in my post above.
Put any good miles on? I know it's only been a day.

I need to get 2 more but not in a rush. My Audi just sits in the garage so not needed until I get it back up and running. The other 3 just had either a bottle of SI, PI or Gumout within the last few months. Actually, I think the CRV also had a B12 in there too.

I know I have stated before that I do the PEA stuff every OCI but the B12 is usually once a year except the CRV which gets more miles between changes. Have never used B12 in the Audi since I didn't know about it before I stopped driving the car.

Has anyone used this yet?
I've been using it for 8 days and 220 miles in my CX-5. So far, so good. This fuel fill-up was the first after crossing 100k miles. Seemed like a good time to start a cleaning attempt. Recently, the idle seemed little rough and if I hadn't used this it would have been a bottle of Techron. I've always used Top Tier fuel, mostly Marathon and Shell. I always track my fuel mileage, so that will be one way I'll evaluate it's effectiveness.

I put a bottle in my daughters CRV on Saturday along with 1/2 tank of Shell Nitro+. She has only driven 10 miles. Only thing I'm looking to address or keep away is her random low catalyst efficiency but doubt that will help as it's an aftermarket converter. It's very random, she just resets it and may be gone for a month or a couple days. It needs to go for NY state inspection toward the end of the month.

My Accord got a bottle with Shell Nitro over 1 week ago. I'm only 230 miles into that, about 1/2 tank. Nothing to address that I know of. All my cars get something at least 2x per year so these have had either Gumout Multi-system, BG44k or Berryman's at least 1x over the past year.

It makes me feel good that I'm cleaning my wallet with something that hopefully helps in some way on my vehicles. :ROFLMAO:

I got to wondering this week, if there's no PEA, would this be a good candidate for a maintenance dose for those who don't get TT/TT+ fuel?

I ask this b/c it's known in the literature here that PEA accumulates in crankcase and has adverse affects on sludge/varnish. I'd say right now the answer is no since AutoZone won't put it on sale / do BOGO, but there's also no visual before --> after datapoints showing Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC removing valve and intake carbon.

I don’t see why it can’t be used as a maintenance dose. As for data points of it showing removal of carbon or cleaning, I doubt we’re going to see anyone do visual representation of a before and after using it. We hardly see anyone do that with any FSC. Most of it will likely be subjective data on how it feels or maybe an O2 sensor CEL going away like we do with other FSC’s.

I’ve added 2 bottles to my 23 F150 3.5 ecoboost (36 gal tank), also using Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30. I’m mid way through my OCI with 31,500 on the truck. So far I’m 240mi into this tank. The one thing I’ve noticed is the idle is smooth in park. If you’ve been in a 3.5 ecoboost F150 at idle in park for a few minutes, you’ve likely felt just a smidge of vibration almost like a very minor misfire, once in drive with a little load it goes away. It’s normal and very common. Some people never notice it, while others do people do. My FIL doesn’t notice it in his F150, but I do when I’ve been in his. As a previous auto-tech, I notice, feel and hear very minor things. It’s a blessing and curse. lol

I thought about boroscoping prior to using Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC, but I just haven’t had the time. I don’t think my engine would be very dirty given its low miles, I don’t idle for long periods and I use Techron before each oil change, so it’s likely quite clean.

So ran my bottle in a fresh tank of gas on our 2023 Mazda CX9. Initially I put it in my fuel tank when it was 1/4, drove around 25 miles before filling up, then my wife took an 8 hour trip on that tank.

My thoughts are anecdotal, but the car 'felt' smoother at idle (based on steering wheel vibration) after running it those initial 25 miles, my wife noticed it felt 'peppier' after running that tank and I thought so as well.

EDIT: 2.5L Skyactiv G with 73k miles
