Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner??

If you’re using Costco gas then you don’t need any additional cleaners. Costco has almost as much detergents as Shell V Power. I have never used any fuel additives in my Civic and I mostly use Costco gas.
My wife will be really happy about this. She pretty much only puts Costco gas in her vehicle. She loves the rebate check at the end of the year. She has been using Costco gas from the first day we got it new from the dealer.

Unfortunately Costco gas purchases don’t contribute to the executive member rebate check.

I found that out the hard way. I upgraded to the Executive membership for one year and was buying a lot of Costco gas but not really all that much in store at the time and my first rebate check was sad 🫤

The 93 octane, top tier fuel has all the PEA and lubricants manually mixed on site. "Fresh cocktail of guaranteed premium fuel"

Did you happen to take a photo? I went to 4 stores and they are all perfect. Id love to have a photo to send to our contacts at AutoZone.
Standing tall here at an AutoZone in Parker, CO (just outside of Denver). Two of each flavor available. Looks like they have the same FSC layout as @Sequoiasoon's AZ.

Had about 65% of a tank, put in the Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC (gray bottle) and topped off w/ Mobil 1 SuperSyn+.

I will say that I like the stretchy yellow tag on it. Never seen somethin like that before and much easier to remove than Techron's cardboard flag that you have to rip off

Check out this latest video from Midwest using the Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner… had an emissions code clear. Thoughts?

Would've been nice to see the plugs and/or a borescope view before & after rather than just a code clearing. Plus, too many variables changed with the addition of Engine Restorer.

Switching to Shell V-Power, another premium fuel, or a heavy dose of Techron/SI-1 has also done the same.

It's just a data point man

Here is the mileage from the tank with the Restore and protect FSC.

For reference this is a PHEV and the “best MPG” came from a 1/2 tank top up with my wife plugging the car in at her work the 3 days she goes in. This car only gets Chevron 87.

Not that I think this proves anything but I will follow up after 3 more tanks and display the 3 averages compared to before the treatment.

Thanks. When you do also keep in mind and comment on 1) terrain [flat vs incline], 2) ambient temperature, and 3) highway or city driving as those are some of the biggest mpg dependencies

I will update the post tomorrow. But car sees stop/go heavy congested hwy, and school zone/redlight city driving around Atlanta 3 days a week. Weekends short trip around rural town. 80 miles round trip to work X3. Hilly(ish) terrain.

Hybrid helps so much but I wish this tank was larger lol only 16 gal.

Well we have a 16 gal tank without a hybrid drivetrain so could be worse haha. We get the same MPG though (Nissan Rogue). About 27.5 MPG pretty consistently.

I'm still committed to and dedicated to the red line products especially their transmission fluids and fuel system cleaner but I thought just so I didn't look like a hypocrite i would buy two bottles so I could at least add another point to my autoZone account and give it a fair Shake. We shall see how she does

Got some info from a couple emails that I can share. This is from Gold Eagle’s product support team. I’m not sure what new magic juice they are using in place PEA, but I’m curious what the group has to say. Here you go guys!

"There are no PEA (polyetherimide) cleaners. We use a brand-new proprietary fuel additive technology developed and proven to remove deposits better than PEA, while also helping keep the system cleaner longer. Give it a try, there is a 100% satisfaction guarantee."

Functional benefits include:
  • Restoration of optimal injector spray pattern and fuel atomization efficiency
  • Measurable improvements in combustion stability and fuel economy
  • Reduction in hydrocarbon and particulate emissions
  • Lowered boundary friction within upper cylinder regions
  • Additionally, the formulation contains an advanced friction modifier package designed to further reduce parasitic losses and wear rates, contributing to additional gains in fuel economy and long-term component durability.
  • For optimal continuous deposit control and system cleanliness, application is recommended in conjunction with scheduled oil service intervals or at 3,000–5,000 mile treatment cycles."
I got to wondering this week, if there's no PEA, would this be a good candidate for a maintenance dose for those who don't get TT/TT+ fuel?

I ask this b/c it's known in the literature here that PEA accumulates in crankcase and has adverse affects on sludge/varnish. I'd say right now the answer is no since AutoZone won't put it on sale / do BOGO, but there's also no visual before --> after datapoints showing Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC removing valve and intake carbon.

Just went to Autozone looking for Redline, got this instead. Going to use it on our newly acquired 2023 Mazda CX9!

In other parts of these discussions - it’s noted that the Valvoline product is not PEA - and you don’t have to change oil after use. I’m planning on doing both … (PEA before oil change) …
