TRADE your gas car for EV ?

TRADE ? NO! Not "gifting" a dealer Three Grand equity. Private sale. Period.

If I had a garage, I would have one now. I am retired I don't drive far, oil doesn't get warm, engines is getting trashed.

I have a long run of 6ga going to my old hottub heater out back on the 3 season porch. I could swap that around to go somewhere else for a gharger install. I have a 200 amp panel in the old log cabin thankfully as the cabin was originally heated by a wood burning furnace in the basement with supplemental Electric heat.
In the Winter I guess you must plan your drive in cold climates, programming the heater to turn on maybe 15 mins before you head out - while the thing is still umbilical-ed to the grid.

I fret transitioning to Windows 11 more than an EV. I have the lovely Win 7 but, Chrome said they are abandoning me Feb 2023!

EV's are cool- thought so ever since I drove my first E golf cart in the 60's :)
I dont need a big one.
Bye-bye bad running gasoline engines and slimy motor oil!

I have thought about it,, as 99%of the time our driving is less than 20 miles per day. a dozen or so times a year we go to Omaha or Lincoln, about 85 miles each way, and the rest of the time it is short trips around town which consist of 2 to 15 miles a day. Many days we don't even leave home, as both are retired. I actually would like to get a ford maverick hybrid, but hate having to order and wait seemingly forever. At my age, I might not live long enough to get it.

To me a car is a tool to get the job done. I worked on stuff all my life so I will wait .
EV are still fairly new and lets see what happens to them. For example the Techs used tom say EFI is untrustworthy get a carbed car. Today it is is said carbs are bad in comparison.

I admit that a small ev would be nice for my 14 mile round-trip daily commute. But I'm picky about what I drive, and the EVs that I can (choose to) afford are not something I would be caught dead in. When there are more offerings and (if) the prices come down to earth, I'll consider it. Right now I'm content letting the wealthy early adopters be the guinea pigs.

Every time government forces to do something always the answer is NO !!!! If manufacturers make the ev to be attractive and convenient the population will switch on its own……

Seatbelts, ABS, airbags, crumple zones, collapsible steering columns, unleaded gasoline, catalytic convertors, EFI... pretty sure we were "forced" into those things.

100% of the miles I have been driven in the last 18 months could have been accomplished using an EV with zero range issues, so yes. All of my travel has been less than 100 miles one-way with no more than 200 miles per day. I have charging at home, plus all of the roads I travel has plenty of DC fast charge or Supercharger options.

However, I think we will probably keep one ICE vehicle in the house for various reasons.
