TRADE your gas car for EV ?

When EV capabilities and price are the same as ICE vehicles, then yes. Current battery technology is a long way from the convenience of a gas tank, I’m still waiting for that big breakthrough.

I would trade my Honda Civic for an EV. I still need the Corvette for fun and the F-150 for pulling my boat to the dock and back to the storage unit. My wife likes her Jeep however someday maybe we will have an EV instead of the Jeep and the Civic. My sister has a Tesla and my little brother has a Rivian and they are both really nice.

I really don't have any strong objections to the idea. By the time I'm ready for another new vehicle, I anticipate that the available options, pricing, charging station availability, etc. will be quite a bit different than it is today. I'm more likely than not to give it a try at some point in the future.

No, I wouldn't trade. My bet is that gasoline-powered cars will be for sale and on the road for a lot longer than EVs. It's not obvious today why I'm making that bet (especially with the bevy of legislation-driven fairy tales), but it'll become abundantly clear within 5-10 years. Time is the great distiller.

No.

Everyone I know who owns an EV also still owns an ICE vehicle(s). For the majority of car owners, EV’s cannot completely replace a ICE vehicle. A couple people in this thread even respond that they own both ICE vehicles and EVs.
Because most people buy 1 new car at a time.

No, I will NEVER give up my candles or kerosine lamp for these newfangled "lightbulb" things. My good man, are you MAD? Be off with you.

Guess what though.....

When your magical grid fails routinely...
Because the puff the magic dragon solar panels don't make enough power... Or the windmills stop turning due to high pressure building over head.... And the marijuana high champions who hate nuclear power think extremely low power density units can magically work in supplying many, many, many Twh of power to millions of people. ... Candles and kerosene laterns will be back in fashion.

Or there's a major storm like a hurricane....

People who have candles... Use them.

People who have Kerosene laterns use them too....

I know. Because that's what my mom used when we lost power when I was a kid.
