From Classic Firearms in N.C. Includes two 7 round mags, 5 inch barrel, wood grips, Parkerized finish, and carrying case with cleaning kit. Made in Turkey. Does anyone know anything about Tisas 1911’s?

I have looked at one several times, and they have good features.

Hammer forged barrel, slide and frame, at least for the one I think you are talking about, which is a big deal.

I think they are not parkerized though. The finish is a coating that looks like parkerizing, unless something has changed.

I do not own a 1911, but if I were to get one, that would be on the top of the list to experiment with just because of cost. I have seen them around here for 399-450. In the Charlotte area.

I do know at least one person with one of the "GI" 1911s, and they love it.

$299?

Wow that is a great deal.

This is my Gucci Tisas. Parts are near 1911 mil-spec and require fitting.

The last 2 pistols I have purchased have been Turkish. A Girsan MCP-35 Browning High Power Clone. And a SAR USA K-12 Sport (CZ Shadow Clone). Both have been flawless, I can't find anything to complain about. Based on my experience with those, I'd try a Tisas.

My Tisa 1911 Duty model (prob same as GI other than sights) has had several hundred rounds of my reloads thru it. Handles Round Nose Flat Point bullets without fail. Haven't tried hollow points in it. Does not handle semi-wad cutters tho, whereas some of my higher cost guns do. Wad cutters is not something i use much anyway. Look up some of the gun forums and you'll see how well they are though of. It doesn't match my Kimber or Springfield for extreme accuracy, but it shots everytime, is more accurate off hand than most of us and costs a lot less!

I don't have one, ive heard good things about it.

A guy who i met last year showed me a new one, he said he had many 1911's and his new favorites were the Tisas. It was nicely finished, he told me it was 100% FWIW.

For that money i would try it if i was looking.

If you aren't familar with 1911's the one you posted appears to be a GI replica the sights on them are tiny. Depending on your preferences you may wish to go the 20 extra for the one with better (arguably) sights.

That said i actually like the GI sights, but lots of folks don't.

Nothing like qualifying with a 40+ yo pistol. But we could buy ammo for $5 a box at the Rod & Gun club!

Thanks - just bought it. I have a bunch of 1911 tools, but that is one that I do not have. Harrison Design makes great stuff.
The 1911forum is a great resource and get a digital microscope. You have to be good at working/measuring to 0.001” and friction fitting.
Yes, one thousandths of inch. More nuanced and disciplined than other hobbies.

I have a Mitutoyo digital caliper in my gun tool cabinet. So useful. I have a Starrett as well, but it’s down at my shop.

When I got the Kuhnhausen book on the M1, I realized I needed a good digital caliper. I’ve since bought his book on the 1911. Another great resource.

Yeah, I bought a 1911 a few years ago. An ATI Firepower Xtreme made in the Philippines. Extremely good fit and finish and shoots great but I regret not upgrading to better than the stock iron sites.

@Cropduster172 not cheap but it a multilayer fiberglass G10 that is highly toxic if sanded. The feel is amazing but it does not make u a better shooter but instead u look amazing at the next Texas Weekend barbecue. Lol.

I replaced the stock grips on my 1911 with wood grips from Thailand... posting said something exotic like canary wood or something...they were $10 and looked pretty much like regular Oak to me. I polyurethaned them and they look great to me.
