Just used this instead of the SuperTech 20W-50 (I also could have chose Castrol GTX) in a 185k 1996 Chrysler Town and Country (3.8li V6).

Wise choice given my options?

Thanks,

Eric

It has 185k miles and for most of it's life, it's been fed 20W-50. I am not sure, if these engines are known for their durability, but it sure runs great.

It will most likely get 10W-40 next time I have ez-lube change it for me again (castrol gtx).

btw, while in the isles of Wal-Mart I was pondering if I should use the Rotella or Del Vac 15w-40? Are these not appropriate for passenger vehicles or engines that see higher rpm's than diesels do?

Those choices would work well, too. I've used them in gasoline engines with no problems.

I want to hear what people here on BITOG have to say about Quaker State period. I never see much about it. Id love an opinion on QS's synthetic.

I haven't had experience with their synthetic. I have used their conventionals for many years in fleet service, with extended OCIs. Not a single problem to report.

I'd use a HDEO 15W-40 before I'd use a 20W-50 in a modern gas engine. Chevron Delo is also excellent...

In OZ everything has to be organic and three times more expensive to be good, right?

To the OP ...............................

I would ditch the 20w50 and if you just can't resist running oil that is way too thick I would recommend 10w40 or HDEO 15w40.

I agree with this.

I have used it off and on for about 15 years. No problems.
