The Mazda CX90. New commercial teasers and updates.

"The available 3.3-liter inline six turbo will have the highest horsepower and torque from a mass production gasoline engine developed by Mazda with 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using the recommended premium fuel. "
OK - now I'm very intrigued!

" ... while also featuring a mild-hybrid system ..."
Well, so much for that. I'm not interested in the complexity of a hybrid.

Darn it; I was really excited for this until I read that last part.
My hunt for a new car continues.
I think the hybrid is “available” but not your only option.

By then they will have the Jetson flying cars.
Yes we'll have crashing car fires all over the country but not to worry they'll have flying fire trucks too!

"Mild Hybrid" description from Wikipedia:
The mild hybrid's electric motor provides greater efficiency through the use of a single device that is essentially an integrated starter/alternator sometimes known as a generator-motor unit. A typical mild-hybrid setup uses a belt-powered generator-motor unit driven off the engine to supply power to a small battery. The generator is also powered through regenerative braking, enabling power that would otherwise be dissipated as heat to be recaptured and recovered for use in powering the vehicle. The small power assist generated by mild-hybrid systems can help supplement the gas engine in low-speed situations or handle the demands of engine start/stop functionality. Vehicles equipped with a mild-hybrid system typically see anywhere from a 1–4 miles per gallon improvement in fuel economy relative to comparable models without the technology

I do hope they do well as they make some nice cars for reasonable money. They sell an almost premium product without the ridiculous service costs the Germans Charge. They will be on my radar when the time comes to replace wifes car.I like the styling on the CX60 but do wish the sides weren't so slab sided. Wife has a Q5 and the sharp body lines are truely striking. It is my understanding they cost some $$$ to make.

Unfortunately the CX60 will not be sold in the US. We will get the CX70 which from what I have read is slightly wider and longer. The styling might be the same though. The CX60 is getting the inline six too so hopefully that applies to the CX70.

Yes, my thinking is the styling will be VERY similar

What I got from the latest video, the inline six is compact in design. So is the transmission. The front end and grill are an evolution from the current designs.

Just think how good this car could have been if they designed and built it in a room with good lighting.
ok...just kidding, I have two Mazdas but I hate the current trend of dark movies and videos and now commercials.

The next video has just been released. The focus is on design and the interior gets most of the attention here. However, that new Artisan Red exterior color caught my attention. It’s almost black but the video does show a color shift as the lighting changes.

Any idea of the projected msrp? They seem like they’re really trying to shift from the value they have been to more luxury…which I’ve read this too, but didn’t think it’d be such a dramatic shift. I was hoping this cx90 would be in the running to replace our palisade in a couple years but it may be out of our league (price wise, but maybe even finish wise as the interior looks way more luxurious than we need for a family hauler, camping and vacationing suv).

Have I missed the footage of the actual engine? I've seen several Youtube reviews on the CX-90. Everything on this car is reviewed except the power plant. That's a highlight for any auto review I've seen. Is it a secret?
