Safe to use PG on Hyundai/ Kia? Any alternatives?

There is some talk about the bulletin from PG years back, talking about using its filters on some Hyundais and Kias. There is a thread here discussing it, however no real new info, which I'm sure is the case. PG would of taken down the bulletin if they were confident their filters could withstand the spike of oil pressure Hyundai and Kia can do.

Is this still true? I noticed even with the different PG filters, most are very similar in can thickness. I've been using micro guard xl.
I guess on the top of my head the highline m1 at Walmart, is slightly thicker...60mm? Compared to the upper .50mm of napa gold and mg xl. Idk

I unfortunately do drive a Hyundai. Should I find another oil filter, to be on the safe side? Idk which other filter to even try other than m1. I don't want to use m and h filters until they fix their bypass.

Maybe the bulletin was just for their own pg branded filters and not 3rd party filters? That's what I'm hoping because it says their own pg filter, nothing for others

There isn't a dimes worth of difference between the new Mobil 1 oil filters and the top line Premium Guard oil filters. The TSB that Hyundai/KIA put out was over a decade ago.
If you are that concerned about the aftermarket filters, just go and buy a OEM Hyundai/KIA filter. They aren't that expensive. They are likely cheaper than Mobile 1 filters.
 
I doubt it's a very important issue, if it was it would be very widely known. I'm not losing sleep over it.
The m1 is a hair thicker than some pgs is my only reasoning.

My fleet used hundreds, probably thousands of them on kia and Hyundai. Never an issue going 5k on Safety Kleen oils. Safe to use

If being a “hair thicker” wasn’t safe then you’d damage the engine every time you started the car at anything other than normal operating temperature.

If this is from Whip City Wrencher, his can thickness measurements are not very good. He got better but needs to use a different tool. The numbers are way off for the most part.
 
@philev - Maybe mine are older but the Factory M&H filters from my sons Forte and daughter-in-laws Tucson seem very well constructed IMO. My measurement was .56mm on the can. I tried to make it back as flat as possible where cutter pushed in so could be slightly less. I'm waiting for media to soak out more before I cut that.

As mentioned, nothing wrong with PG, I had Fram's on both with no issues that I know of. I had the same concern when I saw that on PG website. I presume mostly PG covering their butt from lawyer stuff when owners go after them because Hyundai/Kia denied warranty saying filter caused problem.

I'm doing the factory ones for the Tucson as it still has a lot of warranty left so one less thing to deny or raise suspicion if motor issues. Forte long out of warranty but I have them so using there also. This is 4800 miles with 192k on car.
