My wife and I were discussing this and the other thread on the way to my daughters place. Sure enough, a cellphone bimbo in an SUV was high anxiety bumper riding on a 2 lane road ..with traffic lights. The car in front of her was "invisible" in the sense that it was just a static inhibitor to her forward motion. Her mind was on her phone and what she was going to do when she got where she was going.
As I've said, it's neurotic behavior ...or rather the symptoms of "functional dysfunction". My wife is one such type, just not "all in" when it comes to driving. She still hasn't figured out to coast when she knows she's coming to a stop ..but she's not riding anyone's behind. She evidences it other ways. Laundry..trash ..dishes...all those little tasks that can soak up all that anxiety.
