Purchased a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I wouldn’t have gotten it but that’s just me. Ever since Chrysler was taken over by Fiat I have become less of a fan. My neighbor has one of these it’s a 2015 model they plan to get rid of it soon because they don’t like it and their grandkids complain it’s uncomfortable. The last Jeep I drove as a rental was severely underpowered and my personal ownership experience of a Jeep has not been positive. But if it’s what you are looking for and wanted that’s totally fine I hope you have better luck. I agree with what Donald said above it’s not highly ranked by them or any mechanic I know.

I've owned many Jeeps. The Fiat designed Wrangler is easily the best of them in every way, and they were all good. The lead designer wasn't Italian, btw. He is an American who owns a built TJ and is a serious off-roader. His boss at the time, Sergio, knew a thing or two about managing an iconic brand (Ferrari). Hat's off to him for letting Mark Allen get it done.

Fiat didn't do anything to hurt the Grand Cherokee, either. They only made it better. (Trail Hawk, Track Hawk).

Like many here, I'm a former mechanic. I've owned and or worked on Chrysler products starting with models from the 60's. I own two FCA products currently. I can tell you that the FCA products are the best products that have been produced by Chrysler or it's brands. Trucks in particular.

Glad you have had a better experience I have never seen anything good made by Fiat just that thought turns me away from them. I know a couple Chrysler mechanics they told me to run.

I've owned 4 FCA products and several Chryslers before the whole Daimler era and all served me well. When you have some first hand experience, feel free to share. In the meantime quit raining on the OP's new car thread.

It’s in my dads name we bought it when it was 4 years old. No it’s not new we would never buy anything new the only reason we bought a new car a couple years ago is because of my discount and we got it way under book price. And knowing people that own them is plenty of experience to speak here.

Dude, every Dodge/Chrysler dealer I ever took my jeep to was booked out weeks on repairs. One wanted me to wait 2 weeks before they could fix my puking water pump on my daily (2010 Jeep/hemi)! They break so fast the dealers can't keep up. I moved, and same story here. Dealer service departments slammed. Maybe it's all just pre-FCA repairs going on....but it sure turned me against a new one when it came time to replace.

Heated steering wheel is much nicer than heated seats. Don’t know why.

Why get one without the other. Heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, it's all a must for me now, lol

Haha yeah I always see them stacked at my dealership at night they have a bunch waiting outside the doors to come in in the morning time plus I know a few mechanics that work there they said their is never a slow day.

I mean, noone will tell you Toyota can't make a lemon, but as a rule, not so much compared to FCA. Trends DO emerge.

I had a negative experience with a Camry … arrived at the rental car facility and it’s all they had.

Mine left me stranded on a 90F humid summer day half an hour away from home with my pregnant, at the time girlfriend now wife. Replaced it with a used Dodge Caliber that never let me down, other than being soul crushingly boring.

Were you having issues with the battery? My father's 2013 has it's original battery at 160k miles.

The original battery failed after 5yrs which is excellent service from a battery in Texas. Average battery life in Texas due to heat is 3 yrs.

You don't have significant first-hand experience with a WK2, or, from my understanding, owning anything since Fiat took over Chrysler, correct? Your neighbour finding the seats uncomfortable is hardly a compelling foundation for the construct of well-rounded criticism. Why wade-in here other than for the purpose of being a Debbie Downer?

Like I don't jump into GM threads (which also tend to turn to bash-fests) and crow about how our '86 Olds Wagon was a steaming pile because it's in absolutely no way relevant to anything they've made in the last 20 or even 30 years, I would implore you to do the same in threads where somebody bought a brand new vehicle, is not, in any way, soliciting for advice on that purchase, and is just sharing it with the board.

If I spend a large chunk of money on a nice new , the last thing I'm going to pay attention to is some kid coming down on it because his parents bought something from the same brand when he was 4. Unless he's 12 years old, that's an entirely irrelevant anecdote that serves no purpose beyond highlighting that person's inability to read the crowd and judge the value of their contribution.
