Well, not a purchase nor oil/filter related but I won a free set of EBC pads. I choose yellow stuff and rear axle for my '19 Impreza. Previously I had won another set and chose the same but for the front axle. I don't need thme yet but I can't wait to try them out.

What's the deal with louvers, do we know if they actually flow as well as the older style tube with holes? I remember seeing photos of some Amsoil branded filters here awhile back where some of the louvers weren't even stamped open all the way and Pablo actually sent the pictures to corporate.

At face valve, I don't like the louvers. But that isn't based on any testing, just the visual impression that they give, which means little to nothing.

Got a coupon from Ace Hardware for 22% off up to $100. So I bought 5 quarts of Amsoil SS 10W-30 for the Mustang and 3 quarts of Amsoil Small Engine 10W-40 for the lawn mower. Came out to just under $10/qt after tax.

Flows better
Stronger support center tube

Obviously, you're at the mercy of the assembly line when it comes to quality control. Poorly punched louvers can't be any worse than holes that aren't punched.

I've never seen holes in center tubes that weren't actually punched though, but we have seen louvers that weren't opened up.

Stronger support center tube, I don't really get why that would be too weak to worry about with the traditional holes, but I get what you mean.

Needs more pics please - I think I see a 67-68 there….
Haha I apologize for the lack of pics, it was getting dark on me and a little chilly out 🥶. You were still very close, it‘s a 1966 with a 200 cui straight 6. It‘s been driven very little the last 4-5 years and hadn’t even been started in over a year until a week ago so I’m starting to go through it and work on fixing some minor things to get it roadworthy again.

Not a recent purchase but I was at my father's last night changing the oil in my wife's car and I found this on the shelf. I honestly don't know when I bought this. I've been in my house almost 13 years. I'm guessing I got this sometime between 2002 and maybe 2006. It was opened but ~half full. I'm not even sure why I would have gotten it unless it was for his '84 Diesel Volvo 240 DL but I know I got the Series 3000 5W-30 because that was what was recommended at the time.

Gonna use this in my lawn mower that is burning oil.

They still have it on the website. I had to look it up. I didn't start using amsoil until the early to mid 2000s in my Audi.

I just don't remember buying it. Believe it or not, I remember "most" of the brands and viscosities I have bought. Maybe not all obviously but most.
