Just ordered 1 gallon of Amsoil Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid for the drain and fill on my wife's CR-V along with a renewal of my PC account, 1 bottle of P.I. and a free bottle of the same.

Also ordered a 12 pack of HPL Premium Passenger Car Engine Oil 0W-20 for my wife's oil change and my '18 Legacy's oil change both which are due this month. Her car has 134k miles and has been filled with either M1 AFE (I believe that is what the dealer used) and M1 EP, Amsoil SS for 2 changes and now Kirkland. I'm taking a guess here that her engine is pretty clean using both M1 EP and Amsoil SS. All oil changes have been based off of either 5k miles or after warranty the MM except one which was the last OCI where I used Amsoil SS. This Kirkland change is down to 10%. Based off me knowing the history I decided to skip the HPL CC and just got straight to the regular oil. After this, I will go back to Kirkland since I have another 5 jugs of it. I'm going to have this car changed the week between xmas and New Years.

As for my Legacy, the first 2 changes were done at the dealer way under the 6k mileage but done around 6 months. My following few were also done way under mileage with M1 EP. The last 2 - 3, maybe even 4 were also done with M1 EP but at both 6 months and 6k. I'm also taking a guess that this engine is relatively clean and skipping the HPL EC. I'm going to change this oil probably next weekend. This car has 40k miles

The left over of the 12 jugs will go into my '19 Impreza which has 15k miles on it and has had oil changes between 1000k - 2500k miles but always around 6 months. I will have to supplement this oil with something else. I have a half quart of Amsoil SS left, so maybe that and some left over M1 EP. I'll be changing this car in January.

The HPL shipping is killer though the 15% discount basically made the purchase the same price sans shipping.

Changed the oil in my new to me 2018 WRX. I had full intentions of taking an oil sample for testing. Got under it opened my fumoto valve and got distracted. Forgot all about it! I changed the oil 3,600 miles ago when I bought the car used. I wanted a good sample just so I know where the engine stands Guess I’ll get it next time

If it says "durable metal screen" on the box you shouldn't even need to check.
Not true ... when Fram was making the switch in media many people here reported (in the Oil Filter forum) finding the new non-wire backed filters in the old box. Only way to know for sure is to visually inspect it as I described earlier.

Pretty sure it was the other way around, people were finding wire backed filters, in the newer box that no longer mentioned it.

Nope ... go dig around in the Oil Filter forum. Fram was using up some of the old boxes and putting the new non-wire backed filters in the old boxes. Some members here were disappointed to find the new non-wired back media filter in the box that said it was wire backed.

You'll have to link to a thread that's been reported, I've probably seen most of the threads about Ultra filters in the filter forum, the only thing I ever seen reports of is that they changed the boxes a few weeks or months before switching to the new style media, so there were some Old Ultras in the new box during the transition period but they had already stopped using the old boxes before the new media was introduced.

I searched around the OF forum and did see where some people found the old style in the new box ... but thought some people also found new style in the old box - both could have occurred during the switch over from wire backed to non-wire back. But ultimately, if someone really wants to be sure they need to visually confirm if the wire backing is there or not.
