My order is going in on Thursday. I'm going to dump the TSO a little early and see what the SSO's got.

On the Amsoil website it gives a vw 503.00 rating. Is it possible this is a typo? The 503.00 rating is only good for 180hp and less engines for VAG/Audi. Shouldn't it say 503.01, I may be wrong, but I believe this is the current rating.

In response to your inquiry, SSO meets VW 503.00, but does not meet the
minimum HT/HS requirements for VW 503.01 of 3.52 cP minumum. SSO has a
HT/HS of 3.2 cP. The VW 503.01 specification is specifically for the
RS4, and the TT or S3 with outputs of more than 180bhp. The VW 503.00
specification covers other Audi models, but does not cover the RS4, TT,
or S3 models. This is not a deficiency in SSO as it could have been
formulated to meet that parameter, however it was designed to be lower
in viscosity to enhance fuel economy. With the superb anti-wear
properties of SSO, this approach did not compromise engine protection in
anyway, yet delivers better overall efficiency.

VW 503.00
This is a relatively new oil specification for petrol engines with variable
service intervals. It includes the AUDI S4, but not the RS4, or the TT and
S3 with outputs of more than 180bhp.
Viscosity rating: SAE 0w-30
VW 503.01
A new oil specification specifically for the RS4, and the TT and S3 with
outputs of more than 180bhp, Passat W8 and Phaeton W12.
Viscosity rating: 0w-30
I would believe that to find the best current oil it would have to have the 503.01 spec to have any chance in high hp offerings of today.
