buster, I just received a UOA on my Civic. It looks like the SSO protects the engine very well. Wear metals were very low.

That simply has not been the case. It stays rather hot here in south Florida and the 0W-30 is just the ticket.
Doc Hass will be emailing you!!!

All that is very interesting and I'm sure there are opinions pro and con. Fact is that my other car, 1996 Accord, recorded an average of 35.4 MPG over a 1,600 mile trip. That figure includes local and HWY driving.

I just installed the SSO in my 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5. I notice that it is very nice and smooth, no extra noise on startup. Butt dino feels good too. I put it in the motor today, so we will see about fuel economy. I am looking at doing an initial 8k OCI then a 10k and UOA. Maybe will extend it out with results from the UOA but probably not. Will probably just stick with the 10k OCI because that makes it easy to remember with the odometer.

You got to get up early in the morning to beat buster to the punch.

You beat me to the punch Pablo. I'm always late to the party.

Now I just got to email Acura Canada and see if Acura will void my warranty for using a "different weight" oil.

Awesome! Just wait till I tell the Mechanics at the Honda dealer's. All except one, is raving about the new SSO's perfomance in their Hondas. Engine runs cooler, smoother, gas mileage is up. One mechanic with an older Accord, has commented on how much more livlier his Accord is running and his oil consumption has decreased.

All of you that keep meticulous MPG records, let's try an experiment. Bite down hard on the bullet, install SSO and an EAO to see how it affects your mileage.

harry, you are not going to gain mpg going from a 20wt oil with a HT/HS of 2.6 to a 30wt oil at 3.2 IMO. The only way your mpg might go up is due to the fact that your engine has so many miles on it that a thicker oil improves your efficiency.

The Honda 2.4 responds better to 20wt oils than any 30wt I've tried so far, including sso. I only have 1,400 miles on it now.
