Never stop being amazed at how big a windshield actually is, out of the car.

Picked up a new windshield I'm replacing for a small Fiat 500, and even in a car that small, it's a full 3 feet high. You'd never think it's so large just by looking at the car. And heavy. Feels like 20-25 pounds. And no comments about my messy living room.

You are right, some windshields are huge. How much did the windshield cost you? I've never attempted to replace the windshield myself. I guess you have all the tools, special knives, that hook/wire thing to cut through the old adhesive etc.

I think the tech that replaced the windshield in my F250 (RIP OEM glass, made it 21 years) said it weighed something like 70 lbs. Big old hunk of glass.

The windshield on my Prius is deceptively large as well.

I have a wholesale account at a warehouse but even then, this was exceptionally expensive at $163. Most are in the $80-$100 range even for premium luxury makes. Searched the pick and pull junkyards and found none for a convertible, and the regular junk yards want $175 for one 200 miles away.

On the 4 family vehicles I replace at least 1 windshield a year usually my Ford F150 2wd gets 1 windshield a year . It is always a rock from a car going the other direction. . It is an amazing procedure to watch the tech replace the windshield.

Looks like your Fiat 500 doesn't have the rain sensing wipers. I worked for an independent dealership and we were quoted $700 for a windshield.

yea, I’ve been there when Safelite preps a new windshield for install. I’ve seen one for a BMW fly out of a glass van by my old place. The NAGS number pointed to a newer 3 Series, it was still a huge piece of glass.
