Never before have I been so uninspired/disinterested...

This is how I wound up with my Camry. Nothing excited me. Might as well get something boring and reliable. In 8 years since I've had my Camry, nothing else has excited me. The Challenger is beautiful on the outside but too austere on the inside for me. Just seems like Dodge put all their efforts on exterior styling. But based on some comments in this thread, people like simple interiors. I prefer a large touch screen and new technology.

The Mazda CX70 and Toyota Crown are some possibilities coming soon.

My Wife and I stopped and looked at a Toyota Crown today. My Son is about to inherit her Chrysler and she’s about to get a new car. It has made it to the top of a very short list.

What I especially like about my C43(and its predecessor, my M235i) is their ability to switch between comfort and sport settings for the drivetrain and suspension. It's like having two different cars.

Ugh!

That looks like a shelf directly above the grille! What was Toyota thinking?

Set your quart bottles on that shelf so they’re readily available during an oil change?

I think we have some really cool choices in 2023. Many even with manual transmissions.

GR Corolla
GR 86/BRZ
GR Supra
Golf GTI/R
WRX
Civic SI
Civic Type R
Integra Type S
RS3
S3

The list goes on. Lots of sporty options in the sea of "blah" SUVs/CUVs and pickups.
I do agree that there are still a few vehicles like the ones listed above by TiGeo. (y)
However, they're just not my kind of vehicle anymore. Of course when I was growing up, it was the American Muscle Car Era and of the cars listed, I'd have to pick, not the fastest/best handling but the car that I could most easily get in & out of, see out of etc. I can now say that I've turned into my Dad.

I agree mostly. My favorite vehicle on the market is the Titan XD. It's considered "dated" but reminds me of an actual truck.

Prediction-
The Crown will never reach 50% of the Camry volume-with that front end. It is screaming 2nd year redesign.

Wowsers! That is quite the front grill they have put on that car. Cant . . . look . . . away . . . from . . . it.

The biggest part that’s front and center is actually solid, it supposedly channels the air to the sides of the car for better aerodynamics. Above it and below it is where air actually enters for cooling purposes. But to your point, yes, Toyota seems to like the bigger grills here lately, especially in the Tundra and the Lexus lineup.
The looks of it doesn’t bother me as much on this car for some reason, I just love the overall look of it.

Where does the Crown fit in the Toyota lineup? Is it intended to replace the Avalon? I see on their website that it is a mid-sized car. Was the Avalon a mid-sized for full sized car?

I don’t think they’ll reach that percentage due to the cost alone. This car is in a different category than the Camry.

There is a fix for that. It is called interior cleaner.

Think about this. Those same stains you hate so much on light colored interiors, also exist on the black seats. But you choose to ignore them, because they don't stand out as much. After you think about that, isn't that just a little . . . icky?

Sometimes you're limited to certain exterior colors which then dictates the interior. Black is usually a good match for most if not all exterior colors. Beige also works but the carpeting just accumulates dirt and smudges. With black you know they exist but they're not staring at you.

I like the profile.

I know it is. Toyota sold a little less than 300,000 units of the Camry in 2022. (Probably could have sold more-but the pandemic thing). So I do not think they will sell 150,000 units of the Crown. I'm wondering if it will break 100,000 units.....

I like Toyota products-I wish them well.

I like small cheap base model cars with manual transmission and they don’t exist anymore. Well maybe the Kia Rio, but that’s going the way of the Accent next year and doesn’t have manual anymore. Automatic is ok too I guess. I am getting older so my 19’ Soul will probably be the last manual I own.

I like to look at different car manufacturer websites from time to time but all their offerings do absolutely nothing for me. Big, ugly, bloated, expensive, rolling piles of junk is all I see.

In a couple years we’ll have to start thinking about the replacement for the old 2011 Soul and I’m not sure what will be available from H/K then, but right now their styling doesn’t excite me. 😩

My opinion is that while it's true that a lot of choices in todays vehicles are rather dull and lack individuality/excitement....you can still find various models that can be a whole lot of fun. The main obstacle is price, then comes availability. When I drive by dealer lots, they are practically empty. Definitely not much to choose from. You can order a car.....if you don't mind waiting 6 months.
