I wanted to share information about the NAPA FS 5w40 Euro SP that appears to mirror the formulation of Valvoline 5w40 Euro API SP very closely. NAPA has a decent sale going on and with the 20% coupon the price per quart works out to 4.29/quart if you buy the 6 gallon bulk pack including tax. Gallon price works out to $21.45 delivered. I have two Gen3 Ecodiesels and one BMW E60 with N54. The new SP formulation meets all the requisite Euro approvals. Please correct me if I've missed anything.

TDS and SDS in folder. The below document for the NAPA oil was provided directly from Valvoline this AM. I followed up with the Valvoline team asking for additional information including SAPs and NOACK values, but don't think I'll get them.

Your Gen3 Ecodiesels probably specify using MS-12991 spec oils, which doesn't appear on the list of approvals/specifications.

Not that you can't use them with confidence, just that you should be aware.

Fine for your petrol engines. Not so fine for your DPF equipped diesels.

Received this from Valvoline earlier today. I also made a second request for NOACK and SAPs for this oil. This time the representative confirmed my request via email. So far, this has been a very positive experience when asking for information from Valvoline, and the humans on the other end are very professional.

what I have so far seen is that while Valvoline says SP on their website for 5W40, I have yet to see an SP 5W40 in stores. They all still say SN on the container. It's been like this for over 6 months. If anybody has seen an SP or have seen a VOA, do tell. I haven't

I forgot to follow up. They sent the response in December 2024. I was able to purchase 80 quarts (4x 5 gallon boxes) for $358.37 or $4.48/quart in December and then I took advantage of another bulk purchase offer and purchased an additional 80 quarts (4x 5 gallon boxes for $335.97 or $4.20/quart. All I have received is SP, not SN. I've done two changes with both our Jeep Ecodiesels. I really like the SAPS value for this application and HTHS at 3.7 and KV100 at 13.5 looks to be a decent oil with all the correct approvals for the Ecodiesel.

Noack: 9.7
SAPS: 1.0
