My Walmart has dropped the Endurance for a new 20k Purolator

Was just at local WM....they had about 75-100 Fram Endurances in the clearance section marked down to $9/piece. Didn't have time to see the actual oil filter aisle though.
Did you see the new Vietnamese M1s...I guess not since you didn’t tour the oil filter section

Oil filter Whack-A-Mole is always on the move. 😄

No kidding. It seems that almost every filter has some downside.

I'm in the Honda camp, and the Premium Guard EX for my application is smaller than the standard 7317 size almost everyone else uses. Made in Vietnam and Korea? Am I the only one that gets nervous about that? Where are the quality Made in USA filters?

fleet guard/donaldson but finding the filters to fit an automotive application can be hard. they also post efficiency data so you have to make sure it’s what you’re looking for.

Yes, you might be.

There is the proper PG. The Ecogard variant is called the 4610 https://www.ecogard.com/filter-lookup-search-catalog/product-page/X4610/2024-Acura-ILX/Oil-Filter/

Carquest Premium is called 84356.

I know some books spec the shorter ones. I have some PH2876 Parts Plus that RA sent, and there the short ones. I won't use those either.

Whak a mole for sure.

Can size doesn’t necessarily reflect media area. Media area is what’s important to me after ISO efficiency and of course build quality.

The Carquest Premium 84356 crosses to the 7317 size and is a little bit shorter. The Pentius PLXL 7317 also crosses to the 7317 and is longer than the CQP 84356 and closer to the normal 7317 size filters. @Glenda W. has a post somewhere showing the two side by side, but can't find it.

Does anyone keep a database of all the teardowns?

Based on that photo, the Pentius PLXL 7317 must actually be longer than the typical 7317 filter size. Here's the photo @Glenda W. took showing it with the CQP 84356.

The Pentius uses a coil spring correct? The old Wix black can - with coil spring was a bit longer in this size also - maybe not by that much - but by some.
