Married a LONG time.

45 years today in fact. Lots of ups and downs but we're still hanging in there. Wouldn't trade her for 2- 30 YOs.

Best thing we did was get married in 1980, now all I have to remember is add 20 to the year and I know how long we've been married. The date is tougher, wish it was 10/22 like the Ruger😁🥰
Congratulations Jeff- the more I read, the information continually points to marriage is work and effort, just doesn't magically work 24x7.

First, Congrats man! that's almost as long as I've been alive! ( born Aug, '79)
I think my Parents hit their 59th, or 60th last month...

I have a silly question, but since your anniversary is such an easy one to math out, I'll open this up to the larger crowd...
My GF and I are quickly approaching our 3rd anniversary, but, when try to lay things out in my head, the timeline gets all...

for example... we haven't hit 3 years yet, but we've been to the Ren Fair together the last 3 years,
the First one was nearly to our First anniversary.... Second nearly to our 2nd, etc..
the math doesn't seem to math in my head....
Does that "anniversary math" get any easier over the years?

Nothing better than a good Ruger wife.

Congratulations!

It gets much easier after a year where your wife and you both forgot your anniversary, like we did a few years ago. Neither could blame the other. I'm just glad it was me to remember about a week later, otherwise she probably would have said she was just waiting for me to say something. She would have said it anyway, had she thought of it quick enough.

Congrats! I was chatting on the phone with one of my old college profs last year and when I boasted about my long marriage to my high school sweetheart, he replied "it just demonstrates how well you learned to tolerate each other". There is definitely some truth to that.

For me it was never hard--we elected to have the wedding date engraved into our rings. Can still miss the day since we don't read our rings, but, the date is never far from me.

Last couple of years we've done nothing, and nothing planned for this year. But I should probably do something in two more when the 25th rolls around... maybe. I might be too sad when I realize my marriage is older than some of my coworkers.
