The old Fords already in my signature
'67 or '68 Mustang GT 390 fastback, 4 speed, Brittany Blue
'67-69 Ford F250 with a towing package, white/red two tone
'67 El Camino, 327, 4 speed
1989-91 Honda Accord with a manual transmission
1958-1960 Ford Thunderbird (2nd generation; 1st gens are cool enough but are over-rated imho).
Kevin

1993-94 Ford Ranger Super Cab, XLT or STX trim, 4.0L, M5OD manual, 2WD.

Would like a 4WD for occasional fun, but if we are talking a daily driver to buy new and keep for decades, 2WD.

Really? I owned a bunch of them. Awful cars IMHO. They were only "acceptable" once seriously and properly modified.

Forgetting the resale money aspect, what old car would I actually want to own and live with (drive on a regular basis) ? That's a really hard question. Today's cars are so much better than yesterday's cars. I like practical cars. Practical cars that are really fun are interesting to me.

Ummm, nope, got nothing in mind. They don't make 'em like they used to, and that's a great thing!

To each their own, but I think which of today's cars are better depends on which particular cars you are talking about.

A lot of mainstream cars of today are numb, cost prohibitive to keep going for 25 years, and expensive to repair now. Loaded with more gadgets and features off the lot for sure, but not necessarily a better driving experience, nor something I would want to try to get parts for 10-20 years down the road.

Not everything new is better by default.

The original Ford GT40 was never available to the public. They went to people like Carroll Shelby/Holman and Moody...strictly race cars that were built by Ford under orders from Henry Ford II to beat Enzo Ferarri at LeMans. They finished 1/2/3 at the 1966 LeMans 24 hour race with Henry Ford II in attendance. They also won in 67/68 and 69.

O.K., I guess you didn't specify how far back in time we could go. Assuming I could go back far enough, it would be a 1956 Corvette.

They don't make cars this good looking anymore!

In my younger years I owned a 57 Chevy P/U a 66 Mustang Fastback and a 65 El Camino. I would and should have kept them all. Those are only three of the 40 that I have owned.

The 1991 Acura NSX I passed up for $22k back in 2004 with one older female owner and 29k miles and she drove a 5mt. It had a bad clutch.

Dumb me bought a 2004 WRX brand new instead.
