I wouldn’t admit to the Chevette either, my wife also had one (she loved it) and my son had an 02 Ranger Edge as well.

I had one as well. Co-worker sold me one that needed a clutch for $200. Beat it up till the clutch started to smell completely fried and then replaced the clutch and the throwout bearing. Gotta love a small rear wheel drive car with a manual transmission especially in the snow. After the clutch replacement only thing I replaced was an ignition coil. One day driving home the catalytic converter caught fire so I had to pull over and let the flames cool down. I limped it home and then sawed it off as luckily was living in a non emission testing county at the time so modified it to straight pipe/muffler.

1972 VW Beetle, 1975 VW Rabbit, 1977 VW Rabbit, 1980 Ford F100 PU, 1985 VW Golf, 1989 Ford F150 PU, 1996 Ford Contour, still own, 2002 Ford F150. Sadly here here in NJ my Ford trucks all rusted out severely and quickly. The VW Rabbits and Golf were donated to needy students for college and my 1989 F150 was given to a relative who did repairs on the frame that carried it along for years.

2002 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 with the 6.0L gasser 4.10 rears

Been a good truck….replaced front hub assemblies with Timkin in ‘24

Water pump T stat pulleys etc…now has 146K highway miles

No rust….garage stored…OCI at 4K miles…3200 hours last time checked
