2001 Ford Ranger XL, 2WD, 2.5L, 5-speed manual - got it with 48K miles and sold it at 93K miles. No mechanical problems ever. I see it driving around south Charlotte sometimes.

1995 Ford Explorer Sport, 4WD, 4.0L, 4-speed auto - got it with around 147K miles and sold it at 158K miles. Original engine, trans, and everything else were great, but rust from 13 years in PA was destroying it.

2002 Ford Ranger XLT, 2WD, 3.0L, 5-speed automatic - got it with 49K miles, currently at a little over 85K miles. Not as bulletproof as the '01 Ranger, but close.

Keep 'em coming. I usually have four or five cars at one time. My wife tells me it is a condition. After reading this and seeing the amount of cars other of had, I am staring to think she may be right. I won't show her this thread.

RIP:

1988 Plymouth Sundance with the n/a 2.2 - Slow! Poor car lived a hard life, and eventually popped it's headgasket @ 98k miles.

1988 Ford Mustang GT - Not near as slow :) Probably the toughest car I've owned. Totalled it at 187k miles.

1989 Dodge Shadow ES - 2.5 turbo and five-speed. I have a soft-spot for these Turbo Dodges too, probably the most fun car I ever had. Sold it with 225k miles on it. Still regret that decision.

1996 Dodge Avenger ES - Drove great but kinda slow. Was totalled at 75k.

(two) 1994 Taurus SHO's. - One was an automatic and the other a manual. Stoplight supriser if there was one. Third gear on the MTX was where it's at! Huge maintenance hogs though.

1996 Saturn SL1 - 1.9L SOHC crop duster. Burned a LOT of oil but never broke down on me. Eventually sold it at 203k when it started firing on only 3 cyls.

Still own:

1998 Ford Windstar - 3.8L 142k AFAIK it still has the original tranny! Enough rust and electrical gremlins that it will probably be taken out of service in a couple years..

1999 Chevy Malibu - 2.4L 173k Daily commuter, 35 miles each way. Nothing fancy but it does the job wonderfully. Not bad for a four-banger in a midsize really.

In model year order:

1966 Pontiac Tempest (had a 1972 Trans Am engine and tranny:D)--totaled by my dad.
1968 Olds Cutlass (6 banger)--was on its last legs when I bought it.
1973 Chevy Caprice (SB 400)- totaled by my brother.
1979 VW Rabbit ---totaled (my fault)
1983 Plymouth Reliant--pile of dog doo.
1988 Pontiac Grand Am(2.5 tech4) Bought new--underpowered but trouble free for 6 years)-totaled (not my fault).
1990 GMC S-15 (another tech4)--This one survived me, traded it for my Frontier.
1994 Pontiac Grand Am(3.1 v-6) Bought new---had all kinds of problems with this car--finally the LIM gasket caused engine failure at 102k mi.---junked it.
2001 Nissan Frontier(3.3 v-6 ) Bought new--a little underpowered (and a gas hog too), but I love it anyway.
2005 Nissan Altima 2.5s- Leased it after the Grand Am blew up. Should have bought it, but turned it back in.
2007 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE- bought this instead. Incredible drivetrain :D.

Ten cars in some thirty-three years of driving:

'75 Ford Maverick -- first car (actually then-fiancee's car); sedan; metallic green inside and out, with the 250 CID six, A/C, power steering (but not power brakes), and AM radio

'65 Mercury Park Lane -- white w/ maroon leather; the giant four-door with the power back window and the big 390 CID T-Bird engine

'75 Volvo 164 -- white w/ blue interior; troublesome, then broke a fuel line and burned while I was driving it; put me off foreign cars for quite a while

'84 Ford Escort -- the four-door hatchback "world car"; white with gray check interior; stranded me or stuck me with a $$ repair nearly every year of the seven I drove it

'89 Olds Cutlass -- silver-gray over gray velour; the coupe with the invisible door handles in the B-pillars; never a problem in four years. Traded it for . . .

'94 Olds Cutlass -- same body, but gold over beige velour, and with a bigger engine. (I told people it was so similar to the '89, it was like remarrying your first wife, but she'd lost some weight and learned a few tricks.) Lovely car, but then I got into . . .

'84 Mercedes 280CE -- the Euro coupe W123, gas engine, midnight blue over tan leather; fun to drive, but I was seduced by . . .

'86 Mercedes 420SEL -- steel gray over light gray leather; looked like a German battleship, hence my username; drove it from 138K to 198K miles, at which point it was totalled while parked by a drunk teen driver

'97 Mercedes C230 -- gold over beige MB-Tex; the sturdy little 4-cylinder sedan; solid and reliable, until its transmission began to go out at only 89K miles. Traded for . . .

'03 Buick Park Avenue -- the one in my signature line; 69,600 miles, fantastic looks, ride, and smoothness. (And it's paid for!)

Let's see:

1978 Honda Civic 1500 CVCC - hatchback, yellow with black interior, nicknamed by mom the "Little Yellow Submarine"; bought with 75K miles, engine started having problems at 102K miles, sold for a measly $400

1986 Honda Civic - 1.5L, 4-door sedan, light blue with dark blue interior; bought with 30K miles, sold at 111K

1991 Honda Accord - 2.2L, 4-door sedan, burgundy with black interior; wife bought it new and sold to my in-laws at 132K, still on the road with 214K

1993 Nissan Pickup - 2.4L, regular cab, dark red with red interior; bought with 26K, sold at 104K

1996 Dodge Caravan - 2.4L, short wheelbase van, dark blue with gray interior; bought new by my mom, bought by us at 49K, given away to needy family at 106K

2000 Saturn SL - 1.9L, 4-door sedan, medium blue with gray and black interior; bought at 52K, now at 77K and running great!

2002 Mazda MPV - 3.0L, tan with tan interior; bought new by my mom, bought by us from her with 47K, about to be sold at 79K

2008 Honda Ridgeline - 3.5L, RT pickup, cherry red with tan interior; bought new - great vehicle!

2004 Honda Odyssey - 3.5L, silver with gray interior; bought at 53K - our latest addition!

That's 9 vehicles and I've been driving for about 28 years!

I don't buy and sell very often, so I've really only owned a few compared to the 30 years I've been driving

-1949 Plymouth coupe- granddad's car, learned to drive on it, still own, awaiting restoration, hot rod project, or other.

-1968 Ford Ranchero 302/C4. Dad's former car, my first ride when I got my license. Needed a short block due to a seized oil pump at ~200k miles, so it was also my first big mechanical project. The rest of the truck was falling apart, so I sold it to a guy who put the fresh 302 in his early 70s F-150 and drove that for many years.

1973 Plymouth Satellite 318/904. Another family hand-me-down, but saw me through the rest of HS, college, graduate school, and the first 10+ years of marriage. 436,000 total miles. Still own, still driveable but stored. Debating whether to hemi-fy it or go with a 5.2 Magnum/A518 from a mid-90s Dodge truck- super cheap option now that the Hemi is the more desirable transplant for most people and will only get cheaper in the future.

1984 Chevy Cavalier 2.0- wife's first car, and very special to her. Unfortunately it was a pretty awful car and we sold it for next to nothing in the early 90s.

1993 Eagle Vision TSi 3.5/42LE. Only brand-new car wife and I have ever bought, and one of the best I've had next to the Satellite. 260k relatively trouble-free miles. Sold last year.

1966 Dodge Polara- originally a 383 2-barrel/727. Drove it to 270k miles on the 383, then built a 440 for it. Currently semi-regular driver. Good thing I have a short commute, because its no gas mileage champ!

1999 Jeep Cherokee 4.0/5-speed - bought used for daughter. LOVE it, hate to hand over the keys, but know it will take care of her.

2005 PT Cruiser 2.4/41TE- Wife's current ride. She'd wanted one since they first came out and she's absolutely in love with it. I miss the power of the Vision TSi when I drive it, but its a solid and extremely versatile car.

1965 Chrysler 300L, 413/727. Only owned it for a few months- bought as a package deal with the next car and then sold to focus on only one.

And my toy: 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T convertible, 440/727- the eternal restoration project. Its "done" but the stuff I restored back in 1994 needs re-doing now... :-/

In order of ownership:

1985 Buich Skyhawk 4-door;
1986 Honda Civic Hatchback;
1991 Toyota Corolla SR-5 2-door;
1994 Mazda 323 2-door;
2002 Chevrolet Cavalier 4-door (current car, all others gone)

1978 Subuaru Brat - Fun car, my first car. Leaked oil, a lot.

198X Chevrolet Citation - Boredom on wheels.

1979 Toyota Celica - Had timing chain problems, was never the same. My sisters killed it after I bought...

1978 Triumph Spitfire - I had the top down all the time, even in winter in Utah. Fun! But it broke every two weeks.

1979 Chevrolet Pickup - solid

1989 Nissan 240 SX - Solid, but had to sell when the first baby came.

1991 Ford Taurus - Solid.

1985 Mustang GT - Fantastic. The T5 transmission went out on it, but was easy to fix.

1991 Mustang 5.0 LX - Incredible acceleration. Never had any issues with it, except that it was downright dangerous on icy roads.

1999 Chrysler 300M - Great car! My wife is still upset that I traded it for...

1998 Mustang GT Convertible - Solid. But it eventually gave way to...

2001 VW Jetta - Love it when it runs. Enough said. Still have it, my daughter's car.

Other's that I still own:

2001 Suburban - Fantastic vehicle. Can do anything, never breaks down... ever.

1988 Chevrolet Pickup - Same deal, 207K miles and runs great.

1995 Mazda Protege - Good car, but leaks and burns oil like crazy.

1975 BMW 2002 - A long term project. Good car, needs some clutch work.

My current daily:

1993 Lincoln Mark VIII - 32V V8, great freeway cruiser. I got it for a great price. Appears to be solid.
