Forgetting the resale money aspect, what old car would I actually want to own and live with (drive on a regular basis) ? That's a really hard question. Today's cars are so much better than yesterday's cars. I like practical cars. Practical cars that are really fun are interesting to me.
Ummm, nope, got nothing in mind. They don't make 'em like they used to, and that's a great thing!
To each their own, but I think which of today's cars are better depends on which particular cars you are talking about.
A lot of mainstream cars of today are numb, cost prohibitive to keep going for 25 years, and expensive to repair now. Loaded with more gadgets and features off the lot for sure, but not necessarily a better driving experience, nor something I would want to try to get parts for 10-20 years down the road.
Not everything new is better by default.
