How much is Walmart costing you?

Anybody who proclaims that they have been unable to hire employees:-

Here is the free market answer to your woes. You know supply and demand, right? Your problem is you are NOT paying for the talent that you want. So please don't feed me the bovine excrement that you are having problems hiring qualified employees.

Become competitive in your salary and benefits offering and then you can hire all the great people that you want.

It really is. I find a lot guys in their 50's (my dad and uncles) all suffer from it. They are just now realizing how corrupt and bad things are. As if it all of a sudden just appeared. They never paid attention to how the banking system works, lack economic education, rode the wave and can't accept certain realities. They want it all. Some have argued the baby boomers are ripping off the younger gernations.

Good piece here:

Many own mutual funds and will or won't own certain specific individual stocks due to practices or products related. That's between you and your Lord if you think their practices are right for your fellow man.

Actually WM employment practices/business model causing employees to rely upon the government is pretty comm/socialistic.

How about bank/corporate handouts?

People that just blame gov. just don't know enough about how it all works. It's so easy to blame gov. for all our problems.

Globalization
Technology
Demographics

...all of these things play a role. It's not just government. That's your typical comment among those that dont know any better.

Many challenges ahead for the U.S. but I'm not about to write the U.S. off.

I also hate hearing from 50 year old baby boomers that were the generation that really put us in the hole, rode the wave and now want to lecture us on what the problems are. They now want to shift the blame to younger generations, when it was they who created a lot of this mess. Just do a search on Baby Boomers and look into the data that's out there.

I didn't blame the government, did I? The populous kept looking to Papa for help, and the more we asked, the more they gave, the more they give ,the less we rely on "ourselves" to be somewhay self sufficent.. The more it goes on , the less the newest generation knows of hard work and self reliance. The dumbing down of America. I don't know of any written document where the US government was "required" to make sure everyone had health care, a car, a cell phone, a job that makes 100K. You get out what you put in, meaning work and self control. Not more kids = more money ! The government just took the ball and ran, we the people are to blame.

Yes.

Now we even have the spectacle of the govt. recruiting people to take the dole, and then bragging about it's success in that regard. e.g. food stamps.

Totally OT and verging on political to be locked.

These are people trying to work, not people popping out kids for more food stamps. We're talking about employment practices.

If the Medicare system didn't exist, these people would still be working and be completely uninsured. As many have said, these kind of jobs may be all that some folks can handle/do. And if they are restricted from going FT, getting another PT job doesn't help.

So then let's play the game where there was no Medicare. These people work, have no insurance, can't afford medical bills and go to the ER for everything. This is a common occurrence from long before obamacare. So that's what you want? Who pays for that care?

Or why not call a spade a spade and just not care if folks like that just die in the streets? Obviously the "systems" (including medical profits, which surely must be protected) are far past the point of most people affording the services, and since we can't possibly think of businesses supporting this, nor can we possibly imagine the population at large benefitting from economies of scale to get superior insurance risk/rates, what's the solution???

People dead in the streets as far as I can tell. Can't see how you can disagree. So why not say it?

Wal-Mart is the poster child for capitalism. "Lots of Americans" just seem to label any old thing as communist, and I'll bet "lots of Americans" have no idea what it even means.

Honestly I don't understand the whole communist comment besides the fact that the folks that were on the other side of the wall were enemies... And thus didn't like them, just like folks don't like wal Mart.

There is nothing communistic about wal Mary besides the integration of using government handouts as a way to work a business model, thereby having the "commune" pay for their employees' benefits.

reminds me of my old neighbor whining about obama. meanwhile he's on social security and medicare and his son is on disability. LOL

And running infomercials in Mexico telling people what "bennies" are waiting for them across the border.

Every time I see somebody whining, it comes out that the guy is collecting fake disability and/or retirement. It just never fails. He wants socialism only applied to himself and considers his checks to be "earned".

You want me to name the names here?

So I am supposed to pay $75.00 for some Bangladesh shirt at a "mom & pop" rather than $17.00 at the Walmart for that very same shirt?

Uh, no.

People went to the doctor, and paid a reasonable bill when the services were rendered, or the doc or dentist sent them a bill in the mail.

Life wasn't bad at all before the insurance "crisis". People didn't die in the streets back in those days.

The govt. wants people to be dependent on it for health care. It's implementing policies that encourage employers to make that happen. Employers oblige because it's profitable for them to do so.

Sorry if that's political. Them's the facts.

At least he paid IN to Social Security. Obama & Co. are floating little "adjustments" to SS to keep in afloat, but it was LBJ, another democrat, who started raiding it. "Guns and butter".
