1995 BMW 525i, 113,000 miles. Changed from Mobil 1 0w40. I thought the 0w40 was a bit thin for an older engine. I also understand that the T&suv is a bit more shear stable. Car seems to run finr on the 5w40.

I use it in a 96 Q45 with the 4.5 liter V8.
It gets 5k changes.
I use M1 0w40 in my 00 Chrysler Cirrus 2.5 V6 great oil for that motor.

Now for the second part of my original post. Do those of u that run Mobil 1 Truck & Suv 5w40 leave it in during the winter? Im sure it depends on where u live. Seeing as I live in North Texas where the winter tempatures hardly get below 20 degrees, do u see any problems running it in my kinda winters? Would there be any excessive startup wear on a cold day? Thanks for all ur info!!!!!

I've had no issues running it in my type of winters ..which can get to the single digits for a week or two ..but mostly hovering between the high teens to just below freezing.

Start up wear: My belief is that although there is surely start up wear it is nothing compared to the combined "warm up wear" that an engine sees in the first 10-12+ miles of driving due to ill fittment of parts (pistons, etc.). At least over an engines life time. This wear is totally unavoidable. Given that situation, and given that the event duration also determines what effective visc you're at, you should choose your visc accordingly.

btw- I have used D1 (tsuv) in my jeep 2.5/4.0 engines ..but have a big stash of RTS to use up.

I run 5W-40 T&SUV oil in my Ferrari F355B. I like the startup (lack of) oil pressure delay (compared to some other 5W-40 synthetics), the oil consumption is very low, and the track performance is exemplary.

Can't say about winter startup wear because winters down here get into the frigid +50dF range.

I'm using it in our 2.0L 4 cyl Saab turbo. I chose it based on it's protection, durability & cleanliness. Also, Saab specs dual-rated (gasoline/diesel) oils for all its cars over in Europe, so I felt this oil met the design intent better than the CAFE-based US spec.

Our car fires up quickly down to "as cold as it gets" here in Northern Colorado (around -5°F to -10°F last winter). I'd say you're safe down to around -20°F with this oil. Colder than that & I might switch over to 0W-40.

I use 5W-40 Mobil 1 in: '03 4.7L Tundra V8 4WD;
'96 Camry V6; Kohler 20 hp; Briggs 3.5 hp; Briggs 5.5 hp; Honda OHV 5.5. Lawn-Boy oil in the 2 cycle Lawn-Boy & Mobil 1 15W-50 in the '51 Plymouth. Mobil 1 is easily available and the Truck/SUV version seems to be robust oil; pours easily in the cold of a Texas Panhandle winter and maintains good oil pressure in 100 F ++ heat. I also obtain great UOA's in both the 150,000 mile Camry and the 50,000 milr Tundra. I'm sold on Mobil 1, both in the 15W/50 & 5W/40.

2004 Nissan Maxima, 2002 Yamaha RS Warrior, 2005 Honda CRF450X, Yamaha 3000 generator, Honda lawnmower and finally my airport lot car 1990 Nissan Stanza, Great stuff.

I am useing it in my Dads 1995.5 tacoma with a 2.7 I4. I am going to use it 50/50 with M1 0W40 in my 03 Camry soon. THe 50/50 thing is just how it worked out when I went to buy the oil. My Moms 03Tundra will more then likely be geting it as well soon.

Using a "5wXX" synthetic in the winter time in Wichita Falls should bring you no concern about start-up wear. I used it through three winters in Cincy with temps ranging from -10 degrees to 38 degrees and did not give it a second thought. The Saab cranked right up and idled and ran just fine.

Now using T&SUV in my 2.0 '03 Mazda Protege' for our 100* summers, and will get into my GC stash for the mild winters. Using T&SUV in my 186,xxx miles '90 626, which gets used lightly; figure I can use the better anti-corrosion package for sitting and longer OCI.
BTW, the cleaning action of diesel spec oil in the 626 got my oil consumption back to its original 6-7000 miles per qt, vs 3 thou before starting it at 110,xxx.

I run M1 TSUV in my 88 IROC Camaro (5.0L V8, injected) and in my wife's 94 Escort (1.9L gutless wonder). Works great in both.

Just started using it in my 02 Silverado with the 5.3. I tow a 5klb travel trailer around quite a bit in the summer. Not sure if I will continue in the winter months, although it rarely dips below 30F around here. Mike
