How many use Mobil1 Truck & Suv, and what type engine?

I use it in the summer in a 2001 Jetta w/ 2.8L VR6.

Manual recommends a 5w-40 oil, so this fits the bill being one of the best oils in that grade.

I use 0w-40 in the winter for the added cold-start protection.

I've used T&S in my wife's 2000 GTP for about a year now. The engine is smooth and quiet, and I can't tell much if any difference in fuel economy.

Don't y'all know this is a diesel oil?

What would ever possess any sane person, to run Delvac 1 in a gas engine...?

And a 5w-40, no less!

I use it in my 98 Cherokee 4.0 L

I was using M1 10W30 and developed a tapping noise at idle, lifter?

Switched to T&SUV and the noise has gone away. I can't prove that the oil change did it but I'm sticking with the T&SUV.

You're joking right?

From Mobil's web site:
quote:

Fully synthetic Mobil 1® Truck & SUV Formula is engineered for hard-working gasoline and diesel engines.

Its diesel motor oil, not diesel fuel. And it does have an SL rating. I use it in both a diesel GMC Duramax and in a 1991 Infiniti Q45 with a 4.5 liter V-8.

I'm using it in my '94 Miata with aftermarket turbocharging. Veerrrrry smooth, and seems to hold pressure better as the engine temp rises. I bought it 'cause wallyworld didn't have a big jug of 15w50 when it was last time for a change, but now I'm sold.

Probably I will run it through the winter.

I would like to try this oil in my Porsche 944 as I have used Mobil 1 15W50 and it is a little too thick (it's perceptibly hard to start when cold,) but the 0W40 seems to thin out too much as the engine gets hot (but otherwise works very well.) The only place I've seen it for sale though is in a Wal-Mart about 50 miles from my house! What chains carry this oil, besides Wal-Mart? There's a Sam's Club nearby, but they don't have it.

oh, to TooSlick - I run "fleet" oils in several older cars (Studebaker V8s and 1.8 VWs) they seem to like it, and the extra detergents are nice for gentle cleaning of sludge from previous owner neglect. I don't see a problem running a diesel-rated oil in a gasoline engine, other than possible issues with the additives attacking the catalytic converter or O2 sensor in cars so equipped (I don't know how big a deal that is; I've run Rotella in several older VWs and they always passed emissions with flying colors.)

Nate,

You really don't pay attention, do you? I recommend Delvac 1 more often than EOM employees. LOL!

Another Saab 2.0L turbo user here. I had been using M1 0W40, but wear wasn't stellar. Based on reading this board, the T&SUV sounded like it might show better results. Finishing up my first OCI on the T&SUV in about a month, so I'll have a UOA then.

I'm planning on running another OCI with it through the beginning of the winter, at least. I have no reservations about running a 5Wxx in any weather, given that until recently, there was no such thing as a 0Wxx. However, I'm curious to try GC, so unless someone comes up with some bad news about the performance of the gold stuff (I can't find any green around here) I'll probably switch to GC sometime this winter.

05 Sube Legacy GT,
will run it through the winter.

Noted slightly slower cold cranking at 25F, but I can't care less. This oil is stout, clean, shear-stable, quieted down the H-4, and the turbo loves it.

I run the 5-40 T&S in my 454 with a bottle of VSOT.. change every 5k..it keeps the piston knock down to where you really can't hear it unless your standing outside by the motor..also, the 454 runs hot..I fell I get the protection in summer when I pull my 8k camper...and I get it at WW when I get my Beer...

It's still a 5W oil when cold so why not use it in a N Texas winter? It's a great synthetic and a great oil all around. I've used it right down the road from you (Shreveport) in winter. Good oil.

I've used T&SUV in my 04.5 Cummins, since break-in was completed, with good results, and, on advice from this board, use it in my 05 XC70. I did a 4600 mile trip recently to California, and got 25.5 MPG, and no use of oil. I use it in the winter in Iowa, where we can get -25F in January, and have experienced no starting problems with the Cummins. I change at 5000mi in both so have no UOA to report, probably under utilizing the oil, I know, but I tow with the Cummins and the XC70 has a turbo so with Wal-Mart prices of about $20 for 5 qts, this is almost a no brainer for me and my "fleet".
