I will be changing the oil in my Saab 9-5 to Mobil 1 0w-40 from the Saab semi-synth 5w30 any day now...as soon as it stops snowing

and my apartment parking lot isn't covered in ice and sand.

I noticed an online supplier selling the Lubro-Moly 5w-40 (www.eeuroparts.com), and a google search turned up a L-M 0w-40. There are few posts on BITOG regarding the Lubro-Moly. How does it compare to the Mobil 1 or other Xw-40's?

Are there any cheaper sources of it for mail order?

LM 5W-40 is excellent and should provide very good lubrication in your SAAB. LM 0W-40 is not as good, but good enough. Mobil 1 0W-40 is comparable to LM 5W-40 and better than LM 0W-40. I would not go out of my way to purchase eigher.

My 1998 SAAB 900 is noticeably noisier with LM 0W-40 compared to either LM 5W-40 or Mobil 1 0W-40. UOA results confirm that over my usual 10k miles oil change interval LM 5W-40 results in slightly lower wear than LM 0W-40. However, car feels faster and more responsive with the 0W-40. I also get slightly better fuel mileage with LM 0W-40 than LM 5W-40.

Thanks for the response. I was going to order a few things for Eeuroparts and was thinking of trying the Lubro-moly oil while I was already paying shipping costs...
