1993 jeep grand chero for 1500. had 229,000 when I bought it. traded it for $500 around 245,000; it needed an engine swap and it didn't make sense at the time. wish I'd kept it.

My tundra, bought at 103,000. We've used it to tow a travel trailer regionally every year. it's at 140,000.

my DD, the s60. bought at 107,000. all it has needed has been brakes and hoses, though it get the occasional engine light. seafoam in the CC has absolutely halted it's 2 qts/month oil habit; it doesn't consume it now. I need to find another like this for my daughter in a year.

I think the highest mileage car I ever bought was my first car, a 1964 VW, which was showing 80K on the odometer. I like to buy them new or lightly used. Life's too short to drive junk IMO.

Younger and poorer, I bought a few high-mileage used cars -

1974: 1968 Vauxhall Viva w/ 89000 miles. It cost me a fortune during the couple of months I owned it.

1977: 1971 Chevy Biscayne ex-taxi. The seller swore it had 80,000 original miles. I doubt it.

1978: 1968 Chev Impala w/ 119000 miles. Drove that one four years until replacing the engine & tranny with ones out of a parts car @ 176000, and then drove it another couple of years to 200000 and gave it to a friend.

1996: 1990 Mazda MPV w/ 228000 km. Drove it for five years before it was written off in an accident @ 326000 km.

In the case of the first three vehicles, I would have been better off to pay more for something w/ fewer miles.
