High Performance Lubricants No VII series engine oils.

quick questions folks, why would anyone pick no Vii euro 10w20 over no Vii euro 5w20?
The 10w20 Euro has a just barely higher operating viscosity, but a lower HTHS, which means MPG would possibly be just a hair better. Over the life of an engine, the higher HTHS has the potential to result in lower wear, but considering its HPL, the add pack likely would result in almost identical wear. But that part is just my speculation. The lower HTHS stuff is well-proven, though.

As spasm mentioned, the higher winter number (and lower viscosity index) are good indicators that Noack volatility will almost certainly be lower.

Yes you are right. No Vii Euro 10W-20 and Vii Euro 5W-20 is related to their viscosity and area of application.
10W-20 has a higher viscosity at low temperatures compared to 5W-20, which can be useful in cold climates, but it has a slightly higher viscosity as temperatures rise.
5W-20 is designed for use in low temperatures and typically provides better cold-start fluidity, which is important for reducing engine wear.
In cold climates, it is better to use a lower viscosity, low temperature oil, 5W-20.
And in warmer climates or high engine temperatures, some may prefer a higher viscosity 10W-20 oil.

Just off the highway after a 100 mile commute. 3000 miles in on the 5w30 pcmo. Oil is looking darker than normal. No oil consumption other than me checking and blot testing the oil every end of the week. First run on HPL oil after the EC30 run from the last oil change.

Oil has a sweet and fruity smell on the dipstick and on the napkin blot stain.

Edit: oh *** why did my phone posted in the wrong thread.

Mewbs.....
You say this amber color is darker than normal at 3k?
How many total miles on the odometer?
Ah i meant to post this in the normal pcmo thread but fatfingered it here.

What i meant is the oil is slightly looking darker than it does at 5k even though ive driven 3k so far 90% highway driving. Hpl pcmo 5w30 is the current oil.

Could mean the oil is still cleaning even after the EC30 run?

Current total miles on car is 145704.

Considering that the EC is less aggressive than their “regular” oils, yes, it’s 100% possible that there is still ring pack and other cleaning going on. Color doesn’t mean anything; Dave has mentioned that their aminic antioxidants rapidly change color when exposed to heat. Carry on 👍🏻

I’d say the cleaner is doing something. I just use the NO VII 5w20 oil. Love it.

Ok? Your engine will be better protected.
Sure. The point for an average driver in an average vehicle using these high-end "boutique" oils vs. the common OTS oils is to run it for longer drain intervals. But who am I to judge if folks want to do whatever it is they want to do w/r to their maintenance regimen? For me I basically do 5K changes on my Sportwagen with HPL because I've been tracking my car during that 5K. If I was just daily driving the whole interval I'd do 10K for sure.
When are you planning on doing UOA on that Sportwagon? I’m running that Euro in my MB. 2800 miles on the oil and it’s not the least bit dirty.

I can’t move a single post, I am sorry. So, if you want to repost this in the PCMO section, I can hide this post, or we can let it stay. Your call, please let me know. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Its fine the discussion train has taken off. My fault i fat fingered my reply here. Thank you for responding.

My OCD is kicking in. Though it would be a waste to drain at 5k haha. Very curious to see how the filter looks when it comes out.

I know but I thought you were going to go longer on this oci?
Oh sorry, yes. It's only been a few mos./1.5K miles....patience..hahahah. No track days until May. Plan is at 5K I'll pull a sample so sometime this summer. Won't really say much, will look like the rest of my ~5K/~4 track day samples.

Your engine is clean mewbs.
That 3k paper towel color at 145k odometer is proof.
If you bought this vehicle new, you will soon qualify for the Oil Changers Hall Of Fame.

Is that oil on the ADV site? Are there other oils that are not on the ADV page? I'd be interesting in the small engine oil.

Thanks!
It’s been talked about for a few months… when I asked Dave to create a small engine oil for my Kawi ZT engine, the 10w40 was born first, and then the other grades. Just give Mary Jane a call, she’s the hookup!
