Don't really hoard anything other than having enough stock of oil filters in the garage to last me another 10 years. Also I threw those away this morning after posting haha.

Well if i used them all once a year or 20k on my personal titanium stash theyll probably last me 40 years. Practically a life time. Running them 10k each is enough ROI.
Investigate the proprietary compounds in the fibers. You don't want them to dry-rot and slowly disintegrate from back pressures in coming decades. I used to keep filters a long time. But some of the internet stories I read in the past 10 years have changed my mind. Now I never buy more that a lot of 4 at a time.

What drove you to do this?

I'm not too worried, full synthetic media doesn't degrade overtime like cellulose and synthetic blend. I have them all sealed air tight in ammo boxes with large silica gel desiccant packs. Most of my stock are the OG Titanium with the pink colored synthetic media.

Looking at the HPL spec sheets, the xx-20 oils with the highest HTHS viscosity (the viscosity that actually matters) is the 10W-20 PCMO (2.861 cP HTHS) and the no-VII Euro 5W-20 (3.267 cP HTHS). That no-VII Euro 5W-20 has a KV (8.70 cSt) in the SAE 20 grade range, but a HTHS viscosity of a typical stout xx-30 grade.
