CG Scandinavian makes Bran Crispbread and Sprinkles. These have very high insoluble fiber content and are very filling. The crispbread can be used like crackers with cheese, peanut butter or whatever you like and the sprinkles can go in salads, yogurt, cereals, and can be used for breading if you put it in the blender. If you replace 1/3 of your cereal with this stuff you cut considerably down on carbs while upping your fiber intake.

grains aka sugars are NOT required for health, in fact ALL grains raise your glucose causing an insulin spike, the FAT storage hormone!!! eat sparingly IF at ALL. there are NO essential carbs!!!

Don't get excited. It's mostly fiber but thanks for preaching to the choir. Fiber is a carb but can't be metabolized and will not spike your blood sugar and will not spike your insulin. Fiber is essential to human digestion. I was suggesting that those who do eat cereals consider replacing it partially with a fiber-based product.

A nearby store sells these.. I'm gonna pick some up to see if they will help me get full while eating smaller portions. Thanks.

They are pretty filling. You'll probably eat no more than 2 or three tablespoons of this stuff but it will absorb water and swell up. If you are looking for a really good filler then chia seeds are great. They swell dramatically in liquids because they are mostly made from soluble fiber and mucilage. If you drink water with chia seeds in it you will not get thirsty for a long time. I drink water with chia before I go running.

I remember in the 1970s the "bread and cereal group" was at the top off the Food Pyramid.
I remember that too, but it’s been modified at my house to have ribs, chops, steaks, chicken, cheese, sausage, eggs, gravies, sauces and seafood at the base and fruits and veggies at the top. Whole milk, cream, liquor, wine and beer fill out the middle. I do throw in a salad once in a while for roughage though.

fats, the good ones being saturated like real butter, eggs + all meats will fill you + keep you satisfied longer. many studies usually on health sites note eating less often is more beneficial then cutting back, called intermittent fasting, its free + although i am IMO healthy eating only twice a day helped me get healthier IMO + the # from yearly health visits confirm it. your choices depend on who you believe as theres lots of opinions on what to eat or not. a look around + stats show we are fatter than ever with more diseases especially type II diabetes so modern recommendations are NOT working while big food corporations + modern medicine is making $$$$$$ on sickness!! IMO
