+1 on the boars hair brushes. They're nearly impossible to find. We have a 20" boars hair push broom that we use on the cars in the winter. Don't know what we would do if it broke.

I can't stand snow brushes that put the ice scraper on the same side as the brush in any case. Invitation to inadvertently whack the ice scraper on the car while you brush off the windows.

One would think that with a screen name of GearheadTool, that you would have no problem doing the timing belt job yourself for just the cost of parts instead of doing all of this internet whining.

Here's my suggestion: A moderator should delete the Gearhead part of your screen name to make it much more of an accurate description of the person. Can a mod help us out with that?

I am a Gearhead for my automotive love and enthusiasm. This timing belt thing.. I'm liking the dealer for it.

I know it may be simple for some folk, but for me, it is something that fancied my Gearheadedness.... so, I am not sure what you are saying here.

Here is how the Volvo clears a high curb. This took place two and a half hours ago, in the North End of Boston. There is a high curb there. The XC cleared it nicely!

Now.. if I was not a Gearhead, I would not care about these intracies, of suspension ride height and Turbo Volvos.

My wife's biggest input into a vehicle is ride height, so I guess that intricacy makes her a gearhead? I have no formal training and have replaced 2 timing belts. They are not that hard. Used a book for one and youtube for the other. Saved hundreds of dollars both times.

I guess this just went right over your head, didn't it? I'm sure plenty of the other members of this board had a good laugh at the implied meaning of shortening your screen name to "Tool", and you just proved that my assessment was spot on. Thanks for playing. Do you realize just how much server space you've wasted without offering one piece of useful information to anyone?

Most people come here to genuinely seek help with their automotive (and other) related problems, and with people like you spewing your useless garbage, they have to wade through piles and piles of it to actually find the waning amount of useful information still kept here. I don't mean any disrespect to the knowledgeable people that still put up with the negative here; on the contrary, I greatly appreciate all the help they are still willing to provide. The problem is that they are being chased away by all of the trolls, and it is disconcerting. Ask anyone that's been here a couple of years about Johnny, and they can tell you what this board used to be like.

Most of the older/most seasoned members beside having the patience to explain the same thing over and over and over again so many times, they had a GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR!

The skid pan car was a giggle, instead of a proper skid pan we had a car modified so that it ran on a kind of four wheel dolly. These could be lifted to simulate under steer, oversteer and ice, snow etc.

Another good crack was the reverse slalom, if you didn't do it at a high enough speed or clipped cones you went again.

I have been told they have made the driving course easier due to younger degree educated Paras not having the skill to pass the old one.

Might explain huge increase in accidents over the last few years

I have ramps, the biggest issue is stopping them moving when driving up.

I have to put mine against a kerb behind the house.

I keep on meaning to get two strips of old carpet to cold through the ramp and double over so that you drive on them and the ramp can't slide as the weight of the car is on the carpet.

But I keep forgetting.

I usually just use my trolley jack and axle stands.

My situation is slightly different though as the Clio, Volvo and Taxi you have to access the oil filter from above.

And if you use ramps you end up with a very awkward situation due to the front being up high.

A trolley jack and axle stands can also be used to do brake jobs and wheel changes and rotations.

Ramps can really only be used to do oil changes and things underneath not connected to the wheels.
