I don't need to make a study, as I think you got my point.
Whether it is the generation of electricity, the production of plastic for our "disposable" goods, or the transport of those goods from an overseas location like China, oil is being consumed.
Attacking oil consumption through gasoline prices is like trying to take down a Grizzly with a spit-ball.
Gasoline prices get attacked because they are visible. But they are certainly not the worst offender. Not by a long-shot.
