Money is a little tight so I went from M1 (7.99 a quart) and filter to Motorcraft syn blend (3.49) and filter.

I know Mobil 1 is awesome but is my most recent choise ok? I tust Ford but am I missing out on performance w/o Mobil? Thanks!

H E L L yeah it's OK. MC is a great oil. One of the best out there IMO.

No problem with that switch. You'll be fine.

You can get M1 5 qt jugs for $22 at Walmart which is $4.40 /qt. Motorcraft should also be available in 5 qt jugs there for less than you're paying.

where can i read more about what's in it? thanks!

Here's a VOA and there are probably a number of UOA's in the UOA section, too.

There are zero flies on MC 5-20 or 5-30 - we've used it for hundreds of thousands of miles in E/F-250/350's with no problems. We do a filter change at 4,000 miles, and oil/filter at 8,000, and the vehicles routinely get over 200,000 miles before the PA road salt gets 'em.

The last batch we got at Wally's was ~$12.00 for a gallon.

The MC is a wonderful product with a great price point. it will be good up to around 7500 miles and is as good as any other syn blend for less

The Motorcraft syn blend will serve you well. I use it and have no complaints.

Our walmart has Motorcraft roll back to $11.50 for the jug. Cant beat that price, I may run that in the winter myself

+1

Was at Walmart today and they had MC 5W20 blend for $11.50 for a 5 Qt jug. PP had gone up to $22. PYB was 12.50. MC is looking like the best buy right now. Might switch from PYB to MC blend in the little womans car if the pricing stays put until the next change.

How does everyone feel about switching back and forth between mobil 1 and mc? I dont plan on doing it, but if I wanted to, would it hurt?

I was gonna start another thread, but there are so many threads already. sorry if I change the subject.

I was considering Using M1 in the winter and MC in the summer but to me spending another 10 dollars for M1 isnt going to kill me, still on the fence about it....Now I stocked up with the rebate PP, and Edge, I may not use either MC or M1 anytime soon...

While in Florida where my son lives we checked both of his Fords over. Eyeball maintaince. He has a 05 F150 and and a 06 Expedition with the 5.4 Mod V8. I took off both oil fill caps and had a peek inside. Both engines had a lot of varnish from what I could see. Each has about 60,000 miles and he has been running, in my opinion too far, 7-10,000 miles OCIs.Also the F150 was a tad gunky around the oil fill hole and cap. Since he has all maintaince done at the Ford dealer they use MC 5-20. Years ago he used M1 oils and did 10,000+ mile OCIs and always had very clean engines, so he just assumed the MC was good to go for the extended OCI. Bottom line he says he will have Pep Boys use M1EP in both engines.
Just as a side note I did 10,000 mile OCIs in my old GM 4.6 with 10,000 ile OCIs for 218,000 miles and never had any varnish at all. I'm sure the MC is fine oil but don't abuse the OCI.

MC will protect and keep your engine just as clean as any other oil with your OCI.

I'd use it with no worries.
