Yes, generally any engine oil with European standard, ACEA C3,C5,C6,C7, etc. are catalytic converter friendly and compatible with passenger car diesel engines. It always has longer life and better formulation than basic gasoline only API SP. It must hold wear caused by soot that produced by diesel engines.
ESP engine oil is a good way to keep the piston rings clean, especielly for many Toyota that prone to develope oil consumptions such as 1.8, 2.4,2.5 4 cylinders. Those are excellent engines with low wear, but low tension piston rings are prone to clogging and sticking.
Using ESP engine oil or Valvoline RP are much better way than occasionally using engine flush product.
