How old are we talking about? My dad is 70, and can still climb just fine inside the bed of his RAM 1500. He jumps up and to and from it. He's been physically active his entire life, and he's in great shape.

I am in great shape as well. The pickup beds on new trucks are too deep and they are high. Who wouldn't want an alternative to make it easier?

The rear "dutch" doors in the Safari are similar. I find that access to the rear cargo area is easier in most all cases, if I unclip the door checks to allow the door to swing open further instead of straight back. Like this:
