May I add my voice to those asking you for a list?
Since you're new to car stuff, how do you ascertain what's wrong?
Don't be embarrassed if you bit off more than you can chew.
Don't be embarrassed to report that kiddo got a car that's too far gone.
As asked above: Is everyone low on funds (it happens). Are you the only one with marketable talent? Is there any sharing of work or mutual saving of time and money or are you the "fountainhead of all worth"
If this approximates your situation, I respectfully suggest you all get the same car, preferably with the same powertrain.
This speeds things up and saves money. I also suggest scheduling maintenance.
