Actaully the Castrol was cheaper than the motocraft. Oh and I looked at the box (I bought a case) Seems I got home with a case of 10W-40 as opposed to the 10w30 I meant to get , must have been on the wrong stack. But from what Tom Jones posted I guess I will just go ahead and use it anyway. As for 15w40 I never even thought of running that in a gas engine I though it was just for diesels. If I would of known I would have picked some up they had the Rotella 15w40 on sale!

If the box is not open, swap it for the 10w30 Castrol High Mileage. May cost you around $5 more.... well worth the one case trial/test of it's added syn-blend and seal conditioners.

Or
Get your money & try a large jug of Super Tech synthetic blend High Mileage oil for less money.

Hmmm. Given some of the very good UOA's we have seen from today's 10w40's, I'd say try it. I doubt you will notice much difference in gas mileage, but if you do you can always switch to a high mileage 10w30.

In my '88 5.0 ran 10w30&10w40 dino castrol&motorcraft. Both worked well for over 200k in a T.C.I would not be comfortable putting in syn. oil in it no matter what anyone says.In any 5.0 like a '87 mustang.

But you don't plan on doing it any way. That's smart.

Oh yeah make sure you empty both oil drains when you change your oil every time.

Yeah alot of people seem to miss the front sump drain plug for some reason don't they? And you right there is NO WAY I would put synthetic in this old engine.

That's right The Shape.I was surprised to find out so many people didn't know about the other drain.I didn't know myself till i was watching the dealer change my oil and saw him opening up the one by the sump pump. They told me make both needed to be drained.

Yet some quick lube places refused to open that drain saying it was not needed.

Yeah right.I had some big fights about that with them.Of coarse they bever saw me again.

Now with my 4.6 don't have to worry about that anymore.
