Has anyone else noticed that the 2 for specials and such usually offered by chains like McDonalds and others have disappeared? Just seeing if this is occurring in other areas. The other day when the wife ordered Carrabas to pick up they asked if we wanted to add some $ to the bill and did the same thing when we picked up. Is this the new norm??

Just have a fresh sheet for Burger King. This is the time to use the free money, wow your customers and grow your business. The ban will be lifted.

I'm in the business (commercial food equipment repair), and the vast majority are hurting BAD! If this goes on longer than another month, some of them aren't going to make it!

Remember I am referring to global chains, not the mom and pop places which I will go to first and support to the end!

i dont eat much fast food. but i did see recently in a mcdonalds window 2/$5. also my father just got a burger king coupon mailer the other day.

This is a global epidemic though.

Not here in Canada.
Just checked the McD's site for their coupons on their app and they are still there (valid till Apr 19th).

(That'll be me after taking advantage of the 2 for $12.38 meal deals!)

My neighbor is in a panic...he expects to lose his restaurant, his life savings, and probably his house.

The TV commercial for Arbee's 2 for whatever deal on whatever sandwich (or class of sandwiches) is still being aired.

I'm with 007.
Unless you can reasonably walk into a Mom & Pop establishment and say, "You people have no business running a restaurant", I feel it's in our best interests to support them.

I do fully realize it's an individual person's decision so we can skip the, "You're a commie socialist" replies.

'Preciate it.

Do they not have welfare/employment insurance in your state?
Or is that just a Canadian thing?

Jonny Carinos (Italian, and GOOD-not like that OTHER place). Sign up for email and get deals all the time here in Houston area. Just got 1/2 off Family Platter with a free slice of cheesecake. Wife and I ate 3 times off that for $19. Call and order, call when you get there and they bring it out.

It makes sense, they do not have to compete for your business now that take out is the only option.

Those Mom & Pop type places are the ones getting hit the hardest-no drive thru, very little carryout business, no online ordering options, and many of them mortgaged to the hilt (like your neighbor). I've heard of some SBA disaster hardship loans that may be made available, but it may not be enough.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am doing my best everyday to support the MOM and POP places as they need our help most. Was just curious about the major chains as it seems to be the topic where I live. God Bless America and the little guy!

I obviously don't know his situation, but my wife works for a financial planner and they are frantically working with/for their business owning clients applying for the small business loans intended to help them get through this extraordinary period. It might be worth him trying to get some help with that process if it could get him over the hump (or mountain). I think she was saying the portion of the loan that is used to cover payroll doesn't have to be repaid.

Hardly ever go to a "choke and puke" when I'll gladly support the coal fired pizza place and family run deli and other actual restaurants near me. Fast food:

The corporates are doing what they can. I see (by ads and circulars) that some have added "family" menu items that are a bunch of food at a set price, but haven't been to one of them recently. I have only been to places that I know are locally owned. Some of them have been incredibly creative in menus and service trying to get by.

Getting drive through food. Why is that safe? Some sick person breathing their air on the food you are going to eat. So they used gloves like they are supposed to any other year.
