Does anyone in the US care about the coronation in the UK?

Wife will most likely watch it. Was there for the Queen's funeral and the wife wanted to see the coronation but could not get the Hotel we usually stay at when we visit London, hence watch it from home.

I won't watch the coronation. But I do understand and appreciate the historical significance of the event. I'm happy it's not a part of our culture, but that does not diminish the event itself. There's a lot of pomp and circumstance and ceremony, if you're into that stuff.

Queen Liz was cool, but the world is ready to move on from guys who want you to plead allegiance to them.

I have no interest in watching the coronation. If I was a UK citizen I might say what a waste of tax payer money. But I am a US citizen and feel there are many important things going on in the US and the world and the coronation is not one of them.

However if given the choice between being forced to watch the coronation and getting a root canal I would watch the coronation.
Root canal for me.

Personally, I find the whole idea of "nobility" distasteful. I am not a subject, I am a citizen on equal standing under the law with everyone else.

The US Constitution specifically prohibits Congress from granting titles of nobility to anyone and also prohibits any official from accepting a title from any foreign country. It's lumped right next to the prohibition on taking foreign bribes.

You have so much little interest you started a thread on it. Thanks, I didn't even realize it was happening and now I know to watch!

I'm not surprised at the comments, why would anyone want to watch the coronation in another country any more than I would want to watch a presidential inauguration in another country. It's of fleeting interest in those circumstances.

It will be a big thing in England, for a start we get an additional bank holiday. We will be having a street party in front of our houses with flags and banners. It's a nice thing that brings all the neighbors together. The King will get the respect he earns and no more. He has an awful lot to live up to compared to his mother but I have to say he's started out better than I expected.

I'll gladly take the root canal.

Sadly, I used to believe that too.

I have no interest at all. I never believed in that 1600's royalty stuff as everyone is equal in my book.

Sadly, Barbara Young from the British soap opera series Coronation Street has passed away. The series has run for 60 seasons and is recognized by Guinness Word Records as the world’s longest lasting soap opera.
