EXCEPT your mind goes to mush.

I will agree that some of the real negatives tend to get glossed over. For one, any mind altering substance can be addictive. Pot is absolutely psychologically addictive, but physically it has no withdrawal symptoms. No vomiting, seizures, or any of that.

Smoking it also produces the same problems that smoking anything causes. Tar in your lungs, carcinogens. However, eating it has no lasting effects once it is out of your system.

With turning your mind to mush, you could make that argument about some, but is that really grounds to make something illegal? Lots of things can turn your mind to mush that are 100% perfectly legal.

If this stuff is legalized what do you think will happen in high schools and colleges? We have a pretty uneducated youth as is and if we tell them that pot is free for their taking and it has zero negative effects, most will reach for it and thus, further lower our pool of educated professionals.

Nothing. For one, you can put an age restriction on it, just like with alcohol. It won't do anything because it's already available, but it will be a nice gesture.

The first time I used pot was at school when I was 14. A couple of my friends and I smoked a blunt in one of the bathrooms. I later tried cigarettes at 15 and got drunk for the first time when I was 17. Interesting how that worked out...I guess it was my gateway to legal drugs.

Good argument! You sure got me! You know nothing about me other than I support the legalization of pot.

But that's okay, because you're BIG MAN and your momma done raised you real good!

1.) That you support legalization of pot is enough for me to decide you are a loser.
2.) Yes, my mother raised me right. Maybe if yours had done the same you would be a better person.
3.) I see you have no problem stereotyping folks by using substandard grammar.

No problem man. Yes, I do now and always will look down at folks like you who think legalized marijuana is OK.

Tell a kid to not do something, and they figure that that activity must be quite an experience. Flaunting the rules "makes you cool".

And for most teenagers, being "cool" and popular is of paramount importance. One only needs to take a step back and see that this perception has warped an entire generation or two.

Extreme shortsitedness and overwhelming narcissism are what should be fought against and prevented, then the drug issue will become much less of an issue.

1) I could say the same about you getting high on the idea of locking up pot heads.
2) Again, I'm not the one who gets off on locking up people who are not causing me problems. Live and let live, you will be a better person.
3) You used the substandard grammar initially in the post I was replying to before your argument turned to "loser." Sounds like the grammar pot head tot mom would probably use.

I am against the use of illegal drugs for any reason. I do not want to share the road to someone that is high on anything or drunk. I am locking this thread because the discussion is going no where.
