Some folks just aren't cut out to be parents. Regardless of drug use or not. The drug use only reinforces the pre-existing condition of having no clue what being a parent entails.

That would make 42% of people in the US who can answer a survey truthfully trash. Add in the number who will lie when asked if they have used drugs and it goes up.

Do you honestly think this lady would be a fit parent if she had never smoked pot?

I don't know. I am sure you will continue to deny the fact that she smoked pot ALL DAY around her kid had nothing to do with her leaving her kid on the top of her car. Pot smokers- I got nothing for you. If you quit and repent, thats one thing. If you actively smoke weed, I look forward to putting you in jail one day.

I just recently passed a 5-panel test without cheating, but even if I didn't I wouldn't be repenting to anyone for it, least of all a power tripper.

I'm curious to know why you look forward to putting pot smokers in jail? Seems pretty low to wish that on someone for doing something that has no effect on your life other than a paycheck. Oh, wait...

Actually I do feel pretty good about the fact that I've never gotten high off locking someone up for smoking a naturally occurring plant.

It has an effect on my life when people decide to drive or work stoned. Granted in the confines of someone's home it makes no difference to me, they can do what ever they want, since I can't change it. Its when they come out in public that I have a problem with it. I think a lot of people think along those lines. But hey, JMO.

No argument there.

I can drink a 6-pack of beer at home legally and that's not an issue. If I decide to go for a drive in my truck with a baby on the roof, that's very illegal (for good reason) and very wrong.

Naturally occuring, much like the coca plant, the opium poppy, etc. Lots of things are natural, it doesnt make them good for you or anyone else. If you are cool with legal weed, maybe we should legalize it, like amsterdam. The netherlands....a heck of an economic and global powerhouse! [censored], lets legalize it all. Look how well it works for them!

Both of which require processing to extract the active ingredients (pot doesn't). And the US has knowingly allowed massive poppy farming in Afghanistan in the name of stability.

Amsterdam wouldn't have much if it wasn't for tourism, which in large part comes from their "coffee shops." It's not truly legal in the Netherlands, or anywhere else in the world.

Look at how well prohibition works for us.

My only comment before this thread gets locked is along the lines of demarpaint's post. I don't really see a difference between drinking a six pack and smoking weed before doing something that affects others (e.g. Driving.) Under the influence is under the influence, be it booze, drugs or prescription meds. There is no difference wrt the affect on others when you make a bad decision outside of your home.

IMO, there's a big, big difference between weed and heavier drugs. That they are naturally occuring is a terrible argument, I agree, but that's not to say that weed is on par with coke when it comes to overall impact on an individual and those around them.

A number of factual inaccuracies....people in areas where the coca plant grow chew it, getting high from the leaf. As far as Afghanistan goes....it isn't our country. Perhaps you have heard of Karzai? The SFOR agreement does not allow us to do certain things, like eradicate the country's main cash crop. Not to say I agree with that, but they are a soveriegn (although occupied) country. Also- Opiates have many legitimate medical uses, unlike pot, which is a schedule 1 Controlled Dangerous Substance, with no medicinal value. This despite what those poor people with glaucoma tell you. I watch enough of the shows about the "medicinal" weed shops to know there were a heck of a lot of young healthy folks buying weed for "medicinal" reasons.

I concur with your statements.

I do find it a bit strange that in the "Land of the Free" there are so many restrictions on personal freedom...

I think in practice, pot is no worse than alcohol, and its pretty clear now that keeping it illegal is just destroying Mexico with the huge influx of drug money. I guess its also a huge "make work" project for law enforcement but I think the budgets of alot of levels of government can't to spend the money on anymore.

Those darn restrictions.....without them nobody would be in jail and the country would be so much better!
