Somewhat related, is $20/lb ground beef normal in the PNW? I took this picture on a trip to a Portland, Oregon suburb. I know it’s “organic” or whatever, but in Texas and the Midwest, it would be maybe $10-12.

That's a 3–pound pack (3 1–lb packs together), so $6.67/lb. Not a bad price for 85% lean organic ground beef (whatever "organic" means in this case). In the US organic is a fancy word meaning ripoff.

Lidl regularly has sales for 10–ounce ribeye steaks at $6.99 each, which is $11.20/pound.

I try to buy T-bones on sale at Kroger. They can get down to $7.99/lb sometimes and it's worth it for the ones with large filets. The NY strip side is not much to brag about but can use them for stir fry or chopped finely for a lean burger. These are just selects but some look like a porterhouse. Boil the bones for stock.

local grocery is not too far off..
but I buy sales or at costco/sams.

Sams IIRC is still around $25/lb for usda PRIME fillet.
local grocery is upto 33.99/lb for CHOICE.

Can still snag porterhouse for around 15 on sale. used to be 9.99
