Castrol 0w-40 LL-01 ?

Interesting link straight from germany about bmw ll-19fe and ll-22fe++ specs.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Wow, those images at the top there are pulled from the Afton specification handbook, I can't believe they cropped that out and watermarked those (and they are ancient):

If you like that then get the whole thing. I believe the link in this post still works:

Indeed, I've already read the afton handbook from top to bottom, which I could find on bitog before, but thanks anyway. It's just that while poking around I came across the link from the German forum above which gave some hints on the new bmw oil specification that was being discussed here.

Interesting that it says ll-01 approved, but can be used in ll-01 fe (we already knew that).

Know, the question is: this or Mobil 1 0w-40 for next oil change?
Both will work excellent. Castrol will be theoretically more suited for regular driving as it is bit thinner.
with price increases, Mobil1 is not anymore that much cheaper too.

I was just at AutoZone and was reading the 0w40 Castrol quart bottle and there was no BMW cert anywhere, plus there was significantly less certs in general compared to their 5w40. There were only 2 MB certs too compared to 3 with the 5w40.

That is irrelevant as MB229.5 is only thing that matters.
5W40 is step below 0W40.

I thought it was worth mentioning since this thread is about 0w40 having BMW cert and now it does not. Thanks for the MB info, I will look into that.

Did castrol change something? It says 0w-40 is ll-04 approved instead of ll-01. And With the removal of a40 where does it now stand compared to before. The pour point took a decent hit.
