Castrol 0w-40 LL-01 ?

Here in Toronto, it’s not LL01 certified. Only 229.5 and A40.

So question about Castrol Edge 0w-40 and the newer LL01 approval.
Was the formulation and specs changed, or was it just the approval?
Do we need to continue to wait for bottles with the new approvals on them, or can we safely assume this is backwards compatible to the older packaging still on the shelf?

I'm mostly posing this question toward edyvw... :)

Formulation is changed. Much less PAO.

This is what it shows to me.
If you are bothered, get Edge 0W30. IMO still best Euro oil.
Yeah, I saw that one. It’s the new formula. I’m good for a little bit. I picked up 0w40 M1 $5.20 a quart, 15 quarts. I’m always looking ahead though.

I wish 0w30 Castrol was priced like 0w40 Castrol. Thank you for your input.

Wonder if they did that to meet the oxidation tests of LL-01/04. But in the end, an approval certification is an approval certification. We just have to pay more for the synergistic components that go into the new formulation to get there. Glad I have lots of the SN stuff.

0W30 has still same formulation based on MSDS and PDS, but also LL01.
